Rumors Larnach has been pulled from his AAA game.

If it were straight up Paddack for Larnach … I could live with that. Larnach still has 6 years control and is at league minimum. In 2020 he was #77 on MLBPipeline’s Top 100. Projected as a very good hitter with developing power … no speed or defense … corner OF.

Did see a piece by one of the MINN writers that did identify Paddack as maybe the most likely Padres to go to MINN and Larnach a logical target. However, he did spice it up a bit and said MINN may considering taking Hosmer (and at least part of his contract) to get a better pitcher in the deal. He seemed to think one of Darvish, Snell, or Musgrove might fill that role.

We will see.

Man, Preller has gone from Rock Star GM to Rock Bottom.........absolute nothing of a deal.

Since he made all those deals at the trade deadline in 2020( most of which were bad) he's struggling....Darvish gave us half a season, Snell 6 games. Without the Musgrove trade, he's been fairly bad.

This MUST be sink or swim year for him. Minors have produced NOTHING and his trades have been met at best.

So much for our championship window of 20-23.........

Not sure we could have expected more than this for Caratini?

And as far as the Farm system I’m pretty stoked about Abrams,Campy,Hassell,Mears,Wood and Merrill.

7:25pm: Talks between the two sides have also involved Minnesota closer Taylor Rogers, report Kevin Acee and Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune (Twitter link). There are certainly more players than just Paddack and Rogers in discussions, but the clubs are evidently contemplating scenarios that could see either team land immediate big league help.

Sounds like Larnach was pulled as a precaution after he showed up feeling tight. I guess it rained there the last few days and they didn't want to take any chances. Taylor Rogers is the only confirmed name I've seen so far. Apparently they're talking about a lot of names.

Has to be bigger … although Taylor is good as a LH closer he only has one year control while Paddack has 3 and is a starter.

Does open the door to questioning the health of Pomeranz and when (if) he returns.

Gore and Campusano sent to El Paso. Krol added to EP roster.

Ugh!

I absolutely hate that our GM and Farm system director think putting Gore in that league will be anything but a disaster!

Passan saying the Paddack Rogers deal is happening

Passan saying the Paddack Rogers deal is happening

Guessing some additive pieces to be announced to balance the deal.

Rogers is good LHRP that the Padres need given the health of Pomeranz and only Hill as a LHRP they can rely on. 31 with only one year control and a $7.3MM contract.

Paddack with 3 years control and at $2.3MM. So, Padres, as it stands, adds $5MM to payroll and gives up 2 control years of a player. Might be worth it to the Padres but would seem either some cash comes to the Padres or a minor league prospect to balance this out.

I guess the report also suggests MINN will get a RP in the deal ... makes even more logic for more returning to SD no matter which RP.
