Nice analysis Randy. I feel like after 100+ ABs, 120+ plate appearances and positive feedback on the kid’s makeup, we can at least say Keith Law was flat out wrong about Wood. Looking at Merrill, Wood, Kopps, Ferguson, Gasser, Hawkins… Preller had a hell of a draft.

Just saw Mears exited without completing a 1/3rd of an inning. He has had health troubles, so what happened now?

On my way to Indianapolis for a work thing and going to do my best to drive up to see some Tin Caps games: I think they are home to Dayton if looked at the schedule right.
I went to grad school at IPFW(Yes not called that now lol but that's how I'll always think of it) back in 2012 and while doing so, went to a lot of Tin Caps games. With them being our affiliate, that is how I became a Padre fan for any wondering how someone from the Tar Heel State is a Friar fan lol. Most of my family are Braves fan and I somewhat keep track of them due to said family reasons, but the Padres are number one in my heart.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some of our prospects and seeing Parkview again 🙂

Mears got hit on a 3-2 count pitch that came in high and inside. It was his left hand but after a few minutes he seemed to be moving his fingers okay. For the rest of the game the announcers said he was taken out as a precautionary measure but we'll probably find out more tomorrow. Wood just came back from a wrist/finger kind of injury and they kept him out of 10 games, so let's hope it was just an initial sting and not a fractured finger(s).
Hey Darth! I went to grad school at I.U. at Bloomington a very very long time ago. My wife and I are catching a couple Tincaps games in May. Hope the weather warms up for us San Diegans.
Dale and Valenzuela have cooled off a little but I'm sure they'll pick it up again. Hassell and Mears are worth the price of admission - each are spectacular in his own right. Getting surprisingly good results from their pitching staff so far - hope they keep it up.

Hassell, Mears and Wood have the tools to dream on in the OF for Padre fans. It seems the only thing in the way for two of those three are the swing and miss. Seeing as I live right next to South Bend, when FW plays the cubs, I’ll have to attend.

Outside of these 3 dudes, which other OF in our system have San Diego potential? And when might we start seeing it?
Apart from Renfroe....uh....McReynolds....uh....Gwynn...who else have we drafted and brought to SD that has produced? I'm seriously drawing a blank.....

Not that it's significant, but Dave Winfield comes to mind ...
After that, I guess Thomas Howard gets a mention ...
Other OFers in the current system: a lot of folks like Podorsky ... Ona is a "probably not" ... Trayce Thompson has 8 HRs at AAA ... and ERuiz is having a bit of resurgence at AA ...
