El Paso already announced that Scholtens will be the starting pitcher tomorrow, which is a little bit surprising since they have Weathers, Knehr, Avila and Tyler who could perform that role.  We know that Kerr is on the staff and and Castillo (unless still rehabbing), Kopps, Bergen and Krol are likely others along with either Wilson or Crismatt.

Campy is sure to go down and be the starting catcher with Rivas in reserve.  Kohlwey and Eguy are in the infield but seems like the entire starting outfield played today against Texas.  It will be interesting to see who fills out the rest of the roster which should be announced very soon.

Looks like Padres brought up Cantu, Dixon and Walding from San Antonio to start the season.  We should know in the next couple of days if they stay there.  This will be a very fluid roster for the next couple of days.

For me the surprise was that only 11 pitchers were named. Some Padre options are coming but wonder if a couple of non-roster are still battling out in AZ to get slotted in EP?

And then for more of a reaching speculation … they had Rivas … but brought up 2 catchers in Cantù and Fernandez … are they preparing for the chance Campusano is not optioned?

Eguy looked very good and our pitchers did well, however, the Round Rock team on the field was not that impressive - maybe still waiting for additional cuts.  MiLB has the game on again at 5:05 and then really waiting the see the lower level prospects perform on Friday, especially at Ft. Wayne.

With the ML camp breaking and some more players ticketed for EP … and their current roster boosted by some temporary call-up … should be seeing an announcement before tomorrow’s AA opener … SA is way short of position players.

Also, a few players that I saw as “fillers” in ML ST games have not surfaced as yet on any roster … maybe injured now but ?

As of a couple of minutes ago, El Paso roster showing 23 pitchers, which includes many on the injured list.  This is not even counting Morejon and Baez, who could be rehabbing in El Paso (but more likely San Antonio or Lake Elsinore) and Kopps, who mysteriously disappeared from any roster placement so far.

If Round Rock had trouble with our pitchers the first two days, wait until they face the better ones who should be showing up later this series.  I'd try to get Gore into one of the games at Round Rock before they hit the high altitude venues of El Paso, Las Vegas and Reno.  Need to keep him sharp.

I saw a note that Kopps was headed to SA but that was a couple of days ago ... but has n0t shown up on the roster yet (injured or not). SA roster may get some tweaks before tomorrow's opening day.

Camarena was in camp but he too is missing in action.

So maybe tomorrow a bit more as they finalize the SA, FW, LE rosters complete with their IL players.
