Best tools
Players are graded on a 20-80 scouting scale for future tools -- 20-30 is well below average, 40 is below average, 50 is average, 60 is above average and 70-80 is well above average. Players in parentheses have the same grade.

Hit: 60 -- CJ Abrams (Robert Hassell)
Power: 60 -- Joshua Mears
Run: 80 -- Abrams
Arm: 60 -- Eguy Rosario (Luis Campusano)
Defense: 60 -- Abrams
Fastball: 65 -- Dauris Valdez (Anderson Espinoza, Justin Lange)
Curveball: 60 -- Efrain Contreras (Mason Fox)
Slider: 60 -- MacKenzie Gore
Changeup: 60 -- Gore
Control: 60 -- Ryan Weathers (Gore)

Based on MLBPipeline's new Top 30 for the Padres .... San Antonio (AA) could be quite a power house:

C     Campusano #3 (whenever he is optioned)

1B.  TBD

2B.  Marcano #6

SS.  Abrams #2

3B   Rosario #18

LF. Cordoba

CF. Azocar

RF  Ornelas #19

SP.  Gore #1, Weathers #5, Humphreys #25, Bachar #28, Hernandez #30

RP  Espinosa #12, Knehr #13, Wilson #17, Fox #22, Valdez #25

INJ: Lawson #8

Just guessing IF the Padres reserve AAA for the more veteran minor leaguers (and they have enough) ... outside chance Thompson #11 could end up in AA if he does not appear ready for AAA.

Basically about half of the Padres Top 30 could end up in San Antonio.

MLB Pipeline had RHP Guarate and the “just missed” guy ... 19 year old that should be in AZ this summer.

I wonder if Ethan Elliott should have been in the mix for the back of the Top 30 ... LHSP drafted in 2019 (10th round) out of a small college and got some starts for TC. Did well. What intrigues me is the fact that out of all the unproven prospects in the lower levels ... Padres included Elliott in ML camp this spring. He must have shown something for the Padres to include him. Anyone know more about him?

28 days to opening day in the minors .... can’t wait!

Nothing that I know of on the minor league camp .... alternate site roster ... or even the taxi squad (if there is one).

Minor leagues start in 2 weeks (May 4th) .... anyone know when the minor league / alternative site camps break up and the players head to their new home cities?

Suddenly I am very anxious to get the Minor League season started.....

One week to the start of the minor league season. Never too soon in my mind.

Going to be interesting to see placements in all four full season teams. Without a 2020 season and basically radio silence on the minor leaguers this spring ... pretty hard to get a sense who progressed - regressed from the last time we saw them all play in games.

I am prepared from some unexpected placements.
