Quote from MrPadre19 on August 12, 2026, 5:37 pmBeen playing really good baseball the last couple weeks.
Even doing well with the challenges for a change.
Did well through a tough stretch….now a day off and a road trip against beatable opponents.

Collectively they went on and on praising Preller on his trade deadline moves and his commitment to try to win always. Also gave profs to the quality of "stars" on the roster. They said the Padres (and AZ) are not afraid of LAD and should give them a real run.
Considering the national media a month ago were on the Padres for not being sellers ... pleasant turnaround ... and deserved.

Quote from WindsorUK on August 12, 2026, 8:13 pmRay has yet to look to sharp, and Mize 1 for 2, so I'll wait until years end to evaluate the 2 trades, especially as they pertain to us " going for it"
Whilst I totally understand prospects are just that, at some point, in order to maintain a reasonable roster cost wise, you have to develop and keep SOME of your own guys. Morejon, Morgan, Rodriguez, Merril, France( in a roundabout way), Campusano, is a good start.
I just have a really hard time thinking rebuilding your rotation, 3 of your starting 8, and bench EVERY year, when competing with the Dragon to the north, is sustainable.
It's almost like they don't trust their own guys! Look at Campusano. He's always had the hit tool but was almost dumped because of his perceived lack of defense. Are you trying to tell me that he's made THAT much of an improvement defensively in 1 year? Schildt went with 2 HORRIBLE options last year just so Campy wouldn't play. He's the best offensive catcher in the NL right now, and he's calling good games, throwing out runners, and really savvy with his challenges. A homegrown guy. We need to keep him, not discuss trading him for a stop gap arm who will be here for 2 months. You build around guys like Campy!
Anyway, I hope I eat crow this year. I would absolutely LOVE to see the Duds in the Wild Card round and beat their asses! Just don't want to rely on signing minor league free agents and have them carry us for a good portion of the year. Certainly there are as good of options in our system????
