Taylor is not a good defender in the OF.  His routes to the ball are not good.  I would prefer Harris in LF,  Tatis in RF & Cronenworth at 2B rather than Taylor in LF, Harris in RF & Tatis at 2B.

Song will be sent back to the minors (technically speaking) to make room for Andujar.  The harder question will be which 13 pitchers are selected for the post season roster.  If Adam looks like himself over the next week, then possibly both Mize and Ray don't make the active wildcard roster.

SP1 = King  SP2 = Pivetta  SP3 = Beuhler  Closer = Miller RP = Morejon, Rodriguez, Adam, Matsui, Peralta, Morgan, Hart Long Relief = Vasquez & Canning.  Left off of the playoff wildcard staff, Mize & Ray.

If the Pads advance past the wildcard round, then either Ray or Mize will be added as Starter #4 probably one of Canning, Hart, Morgan or Vazquez do not make the divisional series round.  I'm going to guess Hart, however, if Adam doesn't look like himself, it could be him that doesn't make the playoff roster.  What does everyone else think?

Keep pushing for the #1 wild card so San Diego can host the wildcard series.  Go Pads!

Think you are right on for the SP strategy ... the bullpen mix (the last few) might be influenced by the opponent's lineup ... keep the "extra" LHP (Hart or Peralta) might be a strategy at the expense of a RHRP and maybe some pitcher / batter histories of success also play in. Depending on the opponent ... would not be shocked if they don't have either Hart or Peralta active if that team does not have a strong LHH component. Both have been spotty down the stretch.

At least by not activating Mize and Ray for the first playoffs, the Padres can put together a pretty tough 10 man pen ... LH/RH and long / short arms. I do hope Adam is fully recovered and on his game ... he has been an elite pen arm over the past few seasons and would like to see him ahead of Rodriguez (still great potential but really streaky). Good pen ... expect some early hooks if Stammen sees any sign of SP weakening.

Personally, I'm keeping Vasquez available for any long relief needs, regardless who we're playing. He's had success as starter, long reliever, and whatever they call games where a reliever pitches the 1st then the starter comes in.

Again, Mize needs to be as far away from the San Diego Padres baseball team as humanly possible come the post season. Dudes giving up HR's at a faster rate than Marquez and actually more than Marinaccio did- in less innings!- and we CUT Marinaccio! Give me Morgan, Rodriquez, Vasquez any day.
