He looked a little frustrated even while he was getting decent results early. It all fell apart in the 4th. We're going to need the rotation as whole to get a lot better and provide a lot more length.
I'm not sure if they can really measure this, but I also feel like we have to be one of the worst teams when it comes to making effective use of the challenge system. Full count with the bases loaded to Freeman and a pitch that looked like it clipped the zone goes unchallenged. If it's anywhere close I feel like it should be an instant challenge in that situation. I know that it's easy to judge watching with a box on the broadcast. It seems like we pretty regularly finish games with both challenges still available when there were clear opportunities to make good use of them though.
Not quite your question but SD:
a. is 28th (141) in challenges but has the 9th best success rate (55.9%)
b. is 17th (84) in catcher challenges but has the 6th best success rate (63.6%)
c. is 29th (55) in batter challenges with the 22nd "best" success rate (43.6%)
I guess can spin this a few ways but the catchers seem to be effective in making the challenge decisions. Can't say that about the batters but at least they don't challenge often.
