LAD series: 2021

PreviousPage 5 of 7Next

Most encouraging sign in Game 3 besides Pham's 2 RBI 2B in 8th was Austin Adams.

WHEN he's on, his stuff is ridiculous.  Hitter doesn't know if he's getting plunked in the earhole or slider 2' off low outside corner.

If he can develop ANY consistency he's a "now" weapon vs. the "later" guy (A. Munoz) we traded to get him.

A crazy thought and a totally ballsy move for Sunday Night Baseball against the Dodgers if Lamet and Weathers pitch against Milwaukee.....Maybe bring up another Lefty that the Dodgers have never seen.....MacKenzie Gore....How cool would that be if they did and he was lights out ?

Not going to happen and like I said...a crazy thought but...... 😉

The series is now tied 2-2 ... doesn't feel that way, does it 🙂

Weathers has simply been unbelieveable!  Youngest PITCHER (not just SP) in MLB!  Such a huge win!

That double play was so tasty!

And Melancon is loving San Diego but will NOT be taking that mutual option (5 MM) for next year any time soon.

It was bold to lead Tatis off, Grisham 2nd, going R/L all the way down the lineup.

Will be interesting to see if they do the same tonight vs Kershaw.

It's still a bit early to project that ... Melancon has a VERY HOT HAND right now ... ride it!  But I've followed him closely for several years now (as a roto/fantasy player that others have avoided) and it's been frightening ... ie. he seems good, his stats are not bad, but he's just been scary to rely upon, feels like he's hurt my roto/fantasy team as much as he's helped it ... and I can't help but feel like we (the Padres) will pay the piper ... (and I'm OK continuing to be very, very wrong :-))

It's a good morning ... Padres lead season series with Dodgers 3-2 ... onward!

Snell is his own worst enemy.

He’s gotta learn how to go deeper into games.

He gets ahead of hitters and then can’t throw a strike and loses them.

He gets two quick outs in a inning and then spends 20 more pitches trying to get that 3rd out.

I really hope someone tells him to trust his stuff and throw strikes even when ahead in the count so he can go 6-7 innings in a game.

It’s OK to waste a pitch here and there.....but man,he takes wasting pitches to an art form and that’s why he can’t go more than 5 innings in  game.

Bauer gets it. Now everyone else needs to jump on board.

This is not hockey, rugby, football, or even basketball. Baseball should be fun!

Snell is a hard one to figure out. Almost seems as though his mechanics go in and out of sync in the course of the game. Many of his “misses” are way way out of the strike zone ... suggesting a lot more than just trying to “nibble” off the edge. Not sure how coaching addresses that?

Having said that he went 5.1 innings (89 pitches) last night and could (should) have gone at least 6 innings against the #1 team in MLB while only giving up 2 runs.

Think last night the focus should be on why Tingler pulled him in the 6th. Sure he was nearing the end after 89 pitches but got the first out and scheduled were the #8 hitter Neuse (who he handled well in his other two AB) and the pitcher ... and a one run lead.

Snell wants to go deeper ... Tingler said the Padres want him to go deeper .... yet hard to see the scenario at hand dictating pulling him. At least let him try to finish the 6th and get ready to pull him if Neuse gets on base.

I thought that BEFORE Johnson came in and just imploded ... Johnson just piled on to the dislike of the move.
