He's starting to get back on track. I still want to see him start going opposite field more and getting it done against lefties. That's when we'll know he's all the way back. Kershaw and Urias should be a nice test.

His career numbers aren't exactly great vs these two.. so not sure how nice of a test (outside of him getting a hit or 2 off of them > than career #'s) vs not doing much (normal for his career) against... But the way he is hitting right now ..maybe just maybe let's him rake vs them

More curious to see where Manny is at ..He absolutely OWNS Urias .386 4 HRs ..

During the broadcast yesterday, they mention the difference in Soto performance when batting 2nd or 3rd in the line up. And how drastic the difference is.............hmmmmm.

Just had a look at his splits over at MLB.com. And yes, a .300+ BA compared to sub .100, with more BB's, and less K's % wise.

Obviously, the mind set at 2 is FAR different than that at 3. He's looking more comfortable by the day.

It appears the reports of Juan Soto's demise may have been greatly exaggerated!

Since April 19th, Soto is hitting .329 with 3 HRs and a 1.031 OPS (19 games).

For reference, Soto’s career OPS is .946

Since moving down in the order to 3rd or 4th since about April 26th, here is Soto's line basically the last 15 days.

.425 BA, .556 OBP, .775 SLG, and 1.341 OPS with 8 2Bs and 2 HRs. Thats the Soto I wanted to trade for.....oh and look at what batting order that is, 3rd or 4th.........hmmmmm!!

I love Soto’s eye at the plate.

May be one of the best ever…..but I’m guessing 60% of his K’s looking have been balls.

Umps are so bad he’s being punished for his greatest skill.

Until electronic balls/strikes is a thing he’s just gonna have to make himself be more aggressive with 2 strikes even when he thinks it’s a ball.

Gotta start lowering the number of times they take his bat out of his hand.

I cant wait to see all of you cry at the balls and strikes that will be called by the computer zone. You are going to sh*t your pants.

But WTF do I know about ML umpires and the Questec strike zone that they use in ML parks........quite a bit really.

Edit: Oh, hey Soto, nobody walks off the island!! Swing the F*@king bat!!!

I know you’re an umpire and will defend every one no matter what….but I can promise you most of his called 3rd strikes have been Balls.

I have no idea if the electronic system will be better.

I’m not defending it as I have no idea.

But when your best skill is not swinging at balls……and you get two strikes on you and are called out on a ball that “you” know is a ball….it sucks.

His skill is getting on base and umpiring behind the plate is difficult.

Sometimes they get it wrong and it affects a guy like Soto more than most.

Not sure how you can disagree with that.

But your answer is for Soto to swing at ball 4 because it will probably be called a strike?

He isn’t on the Island anymore…he’s in the highest league in the world.
