Yep … if the buyer looks at the medicals the same way.
Have to have some skepticism on the injury report … sounds similar to others in the past (see Lamet) were initial rest ended up to be a bigger problem.
Probably enough to have reduced trade value.

Quote from MrPadre19 on July 30, 2022, 6:46 amReduced some probably…but the Nats/Angels wouldn’t have expected much from him this year anyway.
Lamet avoided surgery but was it the right thing to do?
He would be back now with a new ligament if he had had it right away end of 2020.
🤷🏻♂️

Hard to read other organizations … we have seen medicals do impact the decisions (see METS on Rocker … and as I recall BALT has always had a conservative approach).
I might boil down to alternatives to the buyer … put a value on an injured Gore and push that against others. Maybe a totally healthy Gore is valued > than Abrams but with the doubt created by the injury does the value of Abrams become > Gore? If the buyer wants 2023 impact … does Morejon become a better trade chip than Gore?

Or they take Wethers + Susana vs Gore..or Gore and add Knehr as insurance... lots of ways this can go.. maybe Wood was untouchable BUT replaces Hassell in the deal now because Gore is out..or Merrill comes into play vs Rosario...etc..etc.. I am sure the pool of players available moves a little...

Quote from LynchMob on July 30, 2022, 9:45 amJuly 29: Nick Martinez placed on paternity list, Michel Baez recalled from Triple-A El Paso
Martinez, who had pitched himself into a crucial middle-innings role in the Padres bullpen, will miss the team's weekend series against the Twins. In the meantime, Baez returns to the big league club for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery last spring. Baez owns a 2.93 ERA in 23 Minor League appearances this season.

Quote from fenn68 on August 1, 2022, 3:51 pmKevin AceeDrew Pomeranz just left the clubhouse with a suitcase. Presumably, he is on his way to begin a rehab assignment. A pretty big deal.
Quote from fenn68 on August 1, 2022, 3:52 pmAJ CassavellFernando Tatis Jr. took five live at-bats today. Says he felt good. Expects to get into Minor League game action later this week.

Also sounds as though Suarez may be back this week (after the deadline).
Hard to address the timeline of the rehabs ... if Tatis goes out at the end of the week given how long he has been IL ... 2 week minimum getting him back around the 20th?
Pomeranz may be more difficult being a pitcher who has not pitched in a year and coming off surgery ... pitchers get a 30 day rehab, so maybe timed for August 31 to ensure a slot on the playoff roster while giving him essentially a full ST build-up.
A lot of IF but before the injury Suarez was settling in and effective in the pen ... Pomeranz was dominant when healthy (earning that multi-year deal) ... Johnson is still a TBD but he too was one of the better pen pieces last year. With luck ... Hader - Pomeranz - Suarez - Johnson - Garcia - Martinez - Crismatt - Hill (who has been really good in the last month) ... may make a dominant playoff bullpen. Plus at least one of the SP probably becomes a long man.

Quote from fenn68 on August 5, 2022, 4:22 pmReports are than Tatis is heading to SA for a rehab as we speak.
Suarez is in LA … so maybe close to being activated.
