Injury Updates
Quote from fenn68 on August 7, 2021, 5:06 pmQuote from WindsorUK on August 7, 2021, 4:48 pmSo that leaves Kim as our IF back up until Fernando returns?
Hope nobody else goes down tonight.
Kim if only 1 injury … if 2 we should see some shuffling and Nola in … if 3 even more shuffling and Myers or even Musgrove?

RHP Taylor Williams pitched 1.2 innings out of the bullpen in his second rehab appearance and ended up earning the victory. Williams allowed two hits, including a homer to fellow rehabber Evan Longoria. The 30-year-old and figures to get a few more outings before making it back to the Padres’ bullpen.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 10, 2021, 3:07 pmNot that impressed by what I've seen of Taylor Williams in his rehab stints. Steven Wilson looks like a much better pitcher overall.

In the bottom of the first, center fielder Robert Hassell was hit by a pitch in the right shoulder. He stayed in and ended up scoring. During the top of the second, it was evident he was having difficulties moving his shoulder and was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the second. It did not appear to be anything too serious, and he was taken out for precautionary measures. After losing CJ Abrams, Adrian Morejon, Michel Baez, Reggie Lawson, and Jorge Ona this year due to injury, the last thing the Padres need is another injury to a top prospect.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 12, 2021, 12:50 pmI didn't hear the extent of Lawson's latest injury. Was it more precautionary given his return from TJ surgery or was it something more significant? Anyone have more details?

Have seen no reporting on Lawson’s current situation.
He was healthy enough to get 4 starts in AA (June 9, 15, 20, 26th) … never more than 2 innings (total 6.2 innings). Not effective at all. Then to 7 day IL (Jul 9th) and since transferred to the 60 IL (Jul 23rd). That is not encouraging for his 2021 return and … given he is already 24 … not encouraging for him reaching his potential in the future.
His TJ surgery was in March, 2020 … so June was 15 months … pretty normal time for recovery. However, we don’t know the IL reason but if TJ related not good (see Luebke) and if something else???????

Quote from fenn68 on August 12, 2021, 1:34 pmPer Madfriar’s sidebar note … Padres put Jagger Haynes (last year draft pick) on the 60 day IL due to TJ surgery earlier this summer.
Padres really do like to keep injury information under wrap as long as possible.

Quote from fenn68 on August 12, 2021, 4:40 pmDennis LinDinelson Lamet had a hip infection "cleaned out" yesterday, Jayce Tingler said. It wasn't arm-related, but "it's gonna be a little while, because they had to go in and cut some things out. Is that a week or 10-day setback? I don't know yet."
Quote from fenn68 on August 14, 2021, 8:50 pmPomeranz having season ending surgery.
Also, apparently Darvish is not rebounding as quickly has hoped.

After Gore departed the game, Trey Wingenter pitched a dominant inning of relief in the sixth for the win. Wingenter made the second scoreless appearance of his rehab assignment and collected his first win of the season. Wingenter last pitched for the Padres on September 20th, 2019.
