Will be very interesting to see how they get him into Padres' lineup ... even just in September.

padres.com is saying he's getting called up today ...

This one is interesting. I understood why Urias was called up before the end of El Paso's season/postseason run. Our 2B situation was terrible and the timing felt right for him to start getting consistent reps with the big league club.

Mejia, on the other hand, almost certainly won't be getting regular playing time through September. Starts here and there at C, maybe a start or few at 3B or the OF, but there certainly isn't a need pressing enough to bump him from the playoffs with El Paso. That's a small number of games, sure, but I've always considered the playoff experience to be somewhat valuable for prospects.

To be clear, though, I'm not complaining. I'm excited to see the kid up here and playing.

Wow!

Wow!

I'll say.

Love this pick up. Good job, Preller.

Obviously AJ is more concerned with Urias and Mejía getting ready for next season than he is the Minor League playoff experience they re missing.

What bat speed.  He turned so fast on a 97mph fastball and destroyed it.  Impressive

Awesome. I didn't see either HR so thanks for that. Is he starting again today?

I remember stories about Mejia's suit against BLA ... now dropped ... here's recap ...

Michael Schwimer on Francisco Mejia and the Future for Big League Advance

I think the settlement and apology is a good thing ... shows a maturity by Mejia ... play ball!

I personally feel like these types of agreement are shady as all hell. They take advantage of kids who haven't necessarily lived very comfortable lives in Latin America, who might not appreciate the true value of a dollar or the long term ramifications of their decision, and give them a small lump sum advance in exchange for a considerable percentage of their ENTIRE career earnings. I think ultimately we'll see a suit like Mejia's fought to an ultimate conclusion, and it may not come out favorably to the agencies handing out these types of deals.
