I agree that Tatis needs to start making amends with his bosses, teammates, and the fans. Running away to the DR is not the answer. In fact, if I was the Padres management, I would insist he stay stateside during his suspension. Obviously, he has a knack for getting into trouble there.

This was something that had to be done now .... then Tatis should fade to the background for the rest of the season to allow full focus on the team and the playoff run.

He needs to spend the offseason, playing in the Dom League, working on his OF skills, and come into Spring being ready to contribute as our starting LFer when he is eligible to come back from suspension.
IMO, he has lost his position to "demand" being the starting SS.

Do you really want Tatis in the DR this winter and in constant contact with his "buddies"? Or is it better to sequester him in AZ/SD to have workouts with the rest of the SD teammates who workout in SD ... like Musgrove? Be in eyesight of the Padre front office?
Tatis and Preller have to work through the "trust" issue and complete the healing process ... not easy if Tatis is remote. Still open issue on having surgery on this shoulder (but for now I guess not).

I was thinking more about real game time, and the level of competition that is present in the Dom Winter League. Not necessarily the rebuilding with the SD teammates. But the teammate and trust factor definitely has to come into play. So not sure which would be more beneficial at this time.
My main point was that Tatis now has no right to come back in and demand the starting SS position, and needs to do whatever it takes to be ready to play the OF at the best of his ability next season.

Agree he is in no position to demand any favors of the Padres. He may be (or be counseled) smart enough not to verbalize any discontent from not being the SS … hopefully he actually is comfortable with the move.
In one sense, Kim’s play should give some cover for justifying (and accepting) the move off SS. I can only assume the Padres want to move him off SS full time or plan some convoluted INF/OF role.
I think Tatis is talented enough not to need the DR … work in SD with some OF reps and hit ST full bore as an OF … then go to AZ for the suspension time to continue work in extended ST. Should be more than enough time to get up to speed in the OF and his hitting timing down.

I wish I could hear Tatis's speech to his teammates. I wonder if they are given a chance to respond? I would REALLY want to hear that!

Apparently will remain is SD for his "rehab".
