Plan is for Fernando Tatis Jr. and A.J. Preller to meet Thursday and for Tatis to meet with Peter Seidler on Saturday. The timing of his talking to team has not been set. It will not be tomorrow.

Either Preller or Seidler is going to have to bring zip ties, a car battery and jumper cables to be able to get through to that idiot child.

I have no idea how Preller and Seidler handle this meeting ... let alone Tatis.

Not sure what will work to get Tatis to fall in line ... he does have a guaranteed contract and still seems to march to his own drummer so doubt there is an "threat" really hits home.

I suspect Tatis has been coached to be extremely apologetic and remorseful and promise to be the guy they signed to the long term deal (at leasts by his agent). Preller / Seidler will remain skeptical but with little other option will give him a chance to get past this (with certain "rules" to follow).

Now that will be different if Tatis' father / mother (or some of his DR compadres) get involved and try to make the problem at the foot of MLB, other players, the Padres as the have been in the past couple of days. Sort of the defiant stance.

Give him more time to come up with a lame excuse?

If this were inadvertent, he'd not have accepted the suspension so willingly.

I believe 100% he took this s**t to heal faster. He took a risk.....and got caught. MAN THE F**K UP, CHILD......tell your boss and your teammates you took a gamble and lost. They'll appreciate your truth and be more willing to accept your apology. Ringworm? My ass!

Does anyone here think that Tatis is ACTUALLY, GENUINELY SORRY for riding his motorcycle, getting injured, not seeing a doctor, missing most of the year or taking steroids and getting suspended? I don't. He is quite obviously a spoiled child. He acts stupid and still gets paid a ridiculous amount of money. No consequences.

Tatis has been treated like a king ever since he got to SD. It's time for that to stop. Enough carrot, it's time for the stick. A big one.

Make it clear to Tatis that Manny and Soto are now the focus of the team. The leaders. Tatis wants to play SS, tell him he has been replaced. He is a CF now. Give him no choice and make it clear that THIS IS BEING DONE AS PUNISHMENT. No more infield for Tatis until he grows the F up. 2024 soonest.

If there is one thing that everyone who has ever watched Tatis play knows, he loves being the center of attention. He NEEDS it. He is also very proud. He will hate being treated like a second class citizen.

What do you propose as the stick?

I love that Manny is playing like the superstar that he is( with help from Soto).

And I love the fact that Soto too, is a superstar.

Time to treat FTJ for what he is...a great talent who shows sporadically.  Not someone to depend on to get you where you need to go. You ride your superstars for that.....not flakes.

Take him out of your media.

Stop talking about him as if he's a transcendent player.

Treat him for what he is- a part time player, until he becomes what we all hope he should be.

Exactly!

You do know that the Padres did stop the Tatis bobblehead night in Sept and replaced with with a Soto city connect jersey night.

Padres are apparently already making the marketing moves to ghost Tatis for as long as necessary. That was clearly a no brainer.

I will be interesting to see what the Padres demand from Tatis between now and ST as to rehab, training, drug testing (within the MLB rules).

I do think they need to think about what is best for the Padres winning first ... and that is getting maximum value from Tatis and not focusing on the punitive side (don't discount it just don't let that send them down a rabbit hole). Can't let Tatis off the hook and can't shoot yourself in the foot ... walking the line to get this right.

I know I am in the minority but riding the motorcycle (or maybe it was an ATV in some reports) but the follow-up actions / lack of actions and cover-up that is the concern. In the DR ... motorcycles, scooters, et. al are normal, common ... not something out of the norm. Hard to find any young athlete (big contract or not) that does not engage in activities that may result in injury. (does Donavan Tate come to mind)

As in most cases, it is the denial, lying, cover-up that takes a bad situation and makes it really bad.
