Oh

My

God!

Yep, just posted this in the offseason thread. Gotta wonder if it happened during that motorcycle crash that was supposed to be no big deal.

What about signing Bryant now to play 3b and put Manny at SS?

Then move Bryant to LF/DH when Tatis returns?

or Tatis to OF if they’re worried about his wrist still.

Just mentioned this in the Offseason thread as well.

Tatis was involved in a minor motorcycle accident in December, but it's unclear if the two are related. He said he suffered "bumps and bruises," but his wrist largely felt OK afterward.

Bottom line: not surprised 🙁

With the lockout he couldn’t contact the Padres am I also right in saying he couldn’t just have surgery in the DR on his own?

His contract is guaranteed….but surely these guys can’t just have surgery w/o team knowledge….right?

Interesting take given the context of no CBA and a lockout.

On one hand it is his body … and just as he rejected the suggestion of having surgery on his shoulder shouldn’t he have the right to have surgery on a broken body part without waiting for the Padres?

No idea what is written in the contract but could such an action void the contract?

He has an agent who should have worked through this. Possible the wrist “hurt” but was not feeling that bad and until the Padre doctors X-Ray revealed the fracture. Doesn’t seem Tatis is eager to get medical treatments but his agent should have pressed earlier for an X-Ray.

Left wrist … top hand in his swing … healing is one thing but regain full use / strength is another. Any opinion as to how long it will take for full use / strength?

He did adapt quickly to his shoulder … so we will see.

I would think he could have at least have it checked and/or x rayed.

But I doubt teams let their players have surgery in the off season without their knowledge.

Obviously if it is life threatening etc that would be different....But in 99.9% of times he could just call the Padres.

F'n Lockout!

Well….Nando had his wrist surgery today…so at least he made that decision without delay.
