Fernando Tatis, Jr

You would think the decision whether to have surgery would have already been made and if it's a go that it would be very soon.

I mean....why wait if he's going to have it?

So my guess is if we don't hear anything in the next couple weeks he's decided not to have it.

Last I heard Tatis was "undecided" ... and it is his call on his body. No idea which side Preller takes.

Right.......I realize it's his decision.

He just needs to make a decision soon or risk missing part of next season.

Sure would be nice to see what FTJ could do playing 150+ games once.

Per Preller this afternoon:

  1. Tatis has been seeing multiple doctors on the pros and cons of surgery and we could have a decision by the end of this week
  2. Preller also said Tatis has made it known that he wants to be the SS ... and Preller is fine with that and implied that will be made known to the new manager

So, if Tatis is SS, we should (could) see Abrams as an OF sooner than later and, if he is ready, that may do a lot to plug the missing LF slot for 2022.

According to a report on MLBTR, Tatis will not have surgery on his shoulder. Instead, opting for strengthening and training for shoulder stability.

Lets hope this is the right solution for a healthy Tatis, and a successful 2022 Padres season.

Interesting analysis.

Maybe me reading more into his words but would it follow that giving Tatis a bit more rest during the season … keep his labrum / biceps from tiring / weakening would help prevent a reoccurance of his problem?

Should be interesting to see how the Padres deal with this for both short term and long team benefit for the team and Tatis.

Someone really needs to talk to Tatis about being "smarter". Fuzzy details about him being involved in an accident in the Dominican. Its says there was a motorcycle involved, did not say whether or not he was riding the motorcycle. He came away with only minor scrapes and bruises, and is able to normal activities.

BUT......C'mon Nando you should not be on a motorcycle......ever!
