$50MM for the first 4 control years and $30MM for each FA year .... +/-
So, 6 years would be about $110MM ... AAV $18.3MM.
Control years similar to Lindor’s money for Lindor’s last 4 years and $30MM / year reflects buying out Tatis’ “prime years”.
Mets are paying Springer for some past his peak years that may decline ... and many think he will be off CF before the contract ends. Plus in 4 years the world of AAVs should be still rising.

What pops into my head for arb is: 10/15/20? So maybe 4 /46 = 11.5 MM AAV 1st 4 years ?
BUT Tatis camp can argue that what he's done so far in career if he hits FA @ age 26, 4 yrs from nowin a new CBA, with rising AAV's might be MUCH > 30 MM AAV? Last 2 yrs: 32/ 34 MM? 1 (+1 SB) / 9 / 15 / 20 / 32 /34 = 112 MM?
Is Tatis willing to lock himself into 2 extra years with Pads (where most players on roster will be gone) for the guarantee of > 100 MM right now? If he just waits & is FA @ 26 he could land a deal > Manny's 300 MM... after probably making 45 MM through arb years. SO is this "enough" incentive for Fernando?

Well, Tatis is the first Padre and the youngest player ever to grace the cover of MLB "The Show".
This is a big deal and combine that with being the first MLB player for the Gatorade ad campaign of their new drink .... we are talking marketing stardom.
Going to make the signing of him to an extension potentially more difficult (price is going up) and at the same time more critical for the Padres.
It is a good time to be Tatis!

I'm skeptical of FTJ's ability to be healthy and play a full season ...
So ... let's start an over/under pool ... post your number ... and I'll figure out the 50% point (ie. the over/under line that splits us into 2 sides) ...
I predict that if Padres play 162 games, FTJ plays in 100 of them ...

I'll say at least 132.
The injury he suffered his rookie year will NOT happen again( i.e. youthful overzealous-ness) as I'm sure those he admires told him when and where to over exert himself.
I know he plays with reckless abandon but he's young, strong, supple, and highly mobile.

You think he will only play 100 so you're predicting an injury.
I'm not sure I could say anything under 150 as I couldn't assume he(or anyone) is going to actually get injured.
So...I guess I'm in for 150
