What's the plan for Salas this winter? Does he get to go home to spend some time with his family and do teenage stuff....before heading to a Padres facility somewhere?

I'm guessing he'll take it easy for awhile and make sure the knee is good. He'll probably play in the Venezuelan Winter League again.

Didn't know there was a serious problem with a knee, although he was put on the IL near the end of the AA season. At his age, he should bounce back quickly unless he tore something that requires surgery. I'm thinking he goes to winter instructs, gets healthier and stronger, and uses the off-season to correct those parts of his game he realizes he needs to improve upon. To me, he took too many good pitches to hit early in the count and seemed to always be fighting back from a pitcher's count - needs to focus on getting the bat off his shoulder early, be selectively aggressive and also not be tempted to lift everything in the air; has a beautiful swing so hope he doesn't ruin it. On defense, in my opinion he got a little sloppy behind the plate and did not block/get to as many pitches in the dirt/around the plate as he should have - maybe there was some overconfidence there and all he needs is to refocus.
This is a very young guy who, with just a few adjustments in his overall game, can be potentially the youngest (and one of best) everyday catcher since Ivan Rodriguez and hopefully will have the same kind of career for the Padres. Massive talent with a great work ethic and personality to go with it. Keep our fingers crossed that the knee injury will not sideline him very long.

My favorite part is at the end ...
He could spend all of 2024 at Double-A and all of 2025 at Triple-A and still be on pace to debut before he turns 20. This is one of the best couple of prospects in baseball and the odds-on favorite to be no. 1 overall next year.

Seems to be coming around….currently on an 8 game hitting streak.

Changed his approach and started being more aggressive. Had been hitting from behind the count, 0-2 or 1-2, but now seems to be hunting the first pitch he can hit. BABIP still below .300 but edging up as his BA is slowly climbing over .200. Swing has looked good for the most part but still uppercutting too many pop-ups. Im also looking forward to him showing a lot more at the plate for the remainder of his time in Hi A.
