Padres take the first game, are 8-0 at Petco Park and completed their 4th shutout of the season.

Privette and the BP were outstanding. The offense beat the Rockies best pitcher and both Tatis and sheets each have a 2-hit night and a HR. Iglesias went 2 for 4, 2 RBI.

Let's take game 2

Padres win their 3rd game in a row ending in a spectacular Tatis catch to take the series and are 9-0 at home.

Giants lost and the Cubs crushed the Dodgers 16-0.

Hart was outstanding pitching 6 shutout 1 hit innings and no walks.
Suarez earn his 7th save of the season.

King on the mound tomorrow.

Let's get out the brooms!
Go Padres!

COLO may be the worst team in baseball ... the offense is embarrassing bad starting 6 players batting under .200.

In a Division with SD, SF, LAD, and AZ ... they have a good chance to eclipse the CWS losing record from last season. Sorry for Bud Black.

Great to see Hart have is command back and he displayed a nice pitch mix .. he did what the had to do to remain in the rotation. However, I will reserve my evaluation until he performs successfully vs a stronger line-up.

FTJ must be the best leadoff hitter in MLB.

Anyone else make that claim?

Game 3 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez DH
3. Machado 3B
4. Bogaerts SS
5. Gonzalez LF
6. Gurriel 1B
7. Iglesias 2B
8. Lockridge CF
9. Diaz C

King P

Tatis is playing like an MVP candidate in the early going. There's no denying his talent when he's healthy. Let's hope he can stay healthy all season.

Padres win sweeping the Rockies allowing no runs in the entire series.

They completed their 3rd sweep of the season, pitched their 6th shutout of the season, 10 games above .500 and remain undefeated at Petco with a 10-0 record.

King was solid pitching his best game of the season to date. He pitched his first complete game of his career and a 2-hit shutout at that. This will give the BP much needed rest for the upcoming series against the tough Cubs. I am surprised theat Schildt allowed him to go 110 pitches and a CG, which are rare these days.

Every position player, except Diaz, got at least one hit.

Cease on the mound tomorrow. He has been the least effective pitcher of the rotation so far this season. I hope he steps it up on Monday like King did today. Isn't Cease a FA after the season?

Bring on the Cubs!
GO PADRES!

Yeh, Cease along with King and Arraez are FA. Going to be a challenge for Preller.

Should note that Iglesias, Heyward, Gurriel, and Maldonado are also FA plus Suarez can opt out (he will) and Peralta can opt out. Then throw in Diaz who is on a mutual option that is rarely exercised ... so likely another FA.

With not a lot sitting in AAA, Preller will have a challenge in working through who he wants to (or can) sign given their demands vs the budget restrictions. Resigning this group would require at least an INCREASE in payroll of another $40MM with some long term commitments. Note the Padres are current over the 2nd threshold in the CBT ... so add another $40MMish and leap over the third threshold hold and a 2nd penalty year with little chance of dropping in the near term given the long term deals.

Extend King.

Let Cease and Arraez go.

Trade for Luis Robert to play LF.

Robert-Merrill-Tatis best OF in baseball.

Robert needs a change of scenery and a good offense around him.
