Extend King.

Let Cease and Arraez go.

Trade for Luis Robert to play LF.

Robert-Merrill-Tatis best OF in baseball.

Robert needs a change of scenery and a good offense around him.

As much as I don't really like big long term deals for pitchers ... I would take the risk with King. So agree, he is the one to extend.

Cease with Boras as his agent seems a lock to go FA for BIG bucks and just not  sold on Arraez for the price / length he will be demanding (maybe if the price really drops if he finds no market).

I would pass on Robert ... except for 2023 he has been perpetually injured plus he is on two club options (2026-27) at $20MM/yr. Too much risk at that price even without giving up prospects to get him. Now IF the CWS find exercising the options too much a risk for the cost ... maybe talking to him in FA at a reasonable price might make sense.

I think Cease may very well be traded in or before July.

Maybe AJP can trade him and Gurriel to the Marlins for OF Griffin Conine and LHP Robby Snelling. They could use MLB level pithing and might jump at it.

Our catching duo has been AWESOME! Our pitchers have obviously been lights out( MLB's best) but certainly some of that credit must go to Diaz and Maldonado. And as good as they've been behind the dish, they've not been terrible AT the dish.

Campusano is crushing it at AAA so is ready whenever he's needed.

Another good group put together by AJ!

Agree but not really seeing him as even a part-time catcher in the future - more of an emergency.   His future is likely in the dh/1b role, replacing a fading Gurriel.  Shildt prefers defensive first catchers and there are usually some available at the end of every season, so this is my prediction going forward before Salas finally makes his debut.  Campy will either fit into the aforementioned role or be traded to a team that prefers a more offensive presence in the line-up at catcher and willing to grow with Campy as a receiver.

Our catchers just seem so know when to take those subtle slow movements around the plate or visit to the mound to make the correction our pitcher may need.  Didn't expect much out of them offensively but early in the season they still seem to have some vigor and vitality in their legs to get a timely hit here or there.  Keep it up!

Long season so we will have to see how Diaz (35) and Maldonado (38) produce over the long haul.

If they last productively ... and given the real lack of any quality catching in general available around the league ... might Preller try to resign both to provide some continuity to bridge until Salas arrives?

Diaz is on a $7MM mutual option agains a $2MM buyout ... so in reality it is an extra $5MM if he returns on the option. Not out of the question. Maldonado can't realistically expect more than another $1MM deal at his age.

I can see Campusano ... based on his bat ... as the RHH (maybe more) DH/1B option as Gurriel departs.

I get the injury concerns but truly think he's a 30/30 guy anywhere but Chicago.

We have no LF for 2026 either really.

If it's possible to sign King and trade for Robert that would be all I need to make me happy.

We can replace Suarez/Cease/Arraez from within if we add Robert and extend King

I realize Robert is a long shot....probably not even on AJ's radar....but who's in LF next season?

I get moving ro trading Cease. Arraez is up in the air for me. But who would replace him at 1st base. I believe losing Suarez would be a mistake. He is the closer. FInding good closers is not easy and IMO, losing him would also weaken the BP. I agree that King should be re-signed.
