Quote from MrPadre19 on March 17, 2020, 7:11 pmStill so many who depend on sports that don’t work for the team or at the stadium.
Some Restaurants,Hotels and shops near these Arenas/Ballparks are completely dependent on these sports and other events.
As I mentioned earlier Cooperstown is a perfect example.
Its great that the teams are stepping up and helping stadium workers and those that work for the teams....but that doesn’t do anything for folks like these and millions others affected by these shutdowns.I don’t know what can be done.....but so many are having their livelihoods messed with over this.
This could lead to long lasting hardships, bankruptcy’s and businesses closing/loss of jobs.
Its a horrible “side effect” of a health emergency of this magnitude.

Anyways, large bk attorneys believe bk filings will increase. Unfortunately, it appears at least some agree and believe small business may take a big hit.

You are so right....you're not an expert and the people that have died are probably thinking we didn't go far enough....ooops they aren't thinking anymore about anything

Quote from onlypads on March 18, 2020, 6:14 amResident Dr. 3finger! If you have information that shows I am incorrect, please present it. However, I would (a) would point you to the word "analog" and consider whether that assertion is incorrect and (b) ask whether you are projecting additional connotation/implication that was lacking from my post.
Flus and other viruses have infiltrated our society well for 1000s of years. It is sad. And you are right, especially for those who have directly suffered. I am not trivializing that or at least as minimally as possible. I do believe precautions should be taken. The question is to what extent. People die from the flu every year yet we dont require flu shots...why? People die from tobacco/alcohol yet we permit its use..why? These are interesting questions. Make no mistake about it our choices have consequences and our efforts to combat the virus will result in deaths / hardship too.
Careful, the media portrayed moral high ground is sometimes less sound in foundation than in appearance.

Quote from 3fingersplit on March 18, 2020, 7:10 amPeople make the choice about alcohol , tobacco and getting flu shots.....people have no choice about this. Get back to me about the moral high ground when Martial Law goes into effect...... National Guard and Front line military units on alert to enforce Federal, State and City/County virus measures might mean somebody is taking this a bit more serious than you are.
I get it...you are a minimalist and this whole thing is overblown in your opinion and B/K will rise.......I guess the markets think this whole thing is overblown also, MLB must have over reacted along with the rest of the world so analogue to the flu ?.....not hardly....the flu doesn't cause this type of World Panic and shut down society.
Hope you don't get it and that nobody you care about dies from it....
I'm hoping for Baseball by the 4th of July but would love to see it sooner.....hell, I'm hoping it gets played at all
Stay Safe

It's been hit or miss....sometimes I can't see anything I type but it shows up if I hit submit.....I think it's a virus so I need to lock myself away until it runs it's course or 14 days....whichever comes first 🙂

Quote from MrPadre19 on March 27, 2020, 2:38 pmI’m just gonna guess that we start our 2nd Spring Training around May 1st and the Season starts around June 1st.
Am I too optimistic?

Given the league is now saying that they will not resume games until there are no restrictions on the number of people who can gather or travel restrictions ... maybe July 1 is a better guess. Got the feeling that a number of locales will not be totally cleared for some time (e.g. NYC). Maybe another ST can begin in "safe" locales but they appear not to be interested (to start the season) without fans or in neutral locales.
Things will change so ????
