Was just told by a Padre employee that Opening Day on March has been Cancelled/ Postponed for obvious reasons
MLB has not made anything official yet........just in....Spring Training Suspended
Given the 250 person suggestion by the Governor of California which will soon become mandatory it's a wait and see shortened season.
This is going to get worse before it gets better....stay safe

Not to be insensitive but Come On!
Been anticipating for opening day like never before.....and I’ve had 50 Padre opening days!

Just think about all the jobs put on hold.
The players,owners and coaches will be fine.
But minor league players......all the people who work at the stadiums.
All the businesses that rely on these sports...not just baseball.

Would think they may be better off playing in empty stadiums so when they are ready to resume normal activities the season itself won’t be shortened plus they wouldn’t lose the TV revenue Etc.
I don’t think it would be impossible to just shorten ST by 2 weeks and start on OD without the crowds.

I am pissed! I expect a large amount of the season to be cancelled. The Corona virus spread will not peak until May supposedly. I would think that games will not be able to be played in front of fans until July.

I think what happened in the NBA last night when one player was diagnosed with the virus which forced quarantine of his team ... and the opponent team. Once the realization that players, coaches, umpires can get the virus and shut down their contacts for the 2 week quarantine period ... making it impossible the run a season (besides putting others at risk) ... not much choice but to cancel games.
I guess their is some discussion going on on whether they should just keep a closed ST going or just sending everyone home .. reconvene when appropriate for a brief ST before restarting the season. Alternatively, some discussion of expanding the opening day rosters over 26 ... mainly to accommodate the SP who will not have built up innings.
I would be surprised if the season did not get pushed back to May 1.

Everybody always thought that a meteor would be a global killer and instead we have a virus that seems to being doing that very thing.
May 1st ?............................... what year ?
This will get worse before it gets better.......

Will be in Peoria Saturday, this would've been my 1st spring training. I hope we can find enough to do without a few games to fill our days. I'm sure that there is plenty to do , just have to do a little research. I'm also worried about the Padres / Tigers games in Detroit at the end of April, I have tickets for all 3 games. They haven't played here in like 15 years I think. I do feel really bad for stadium workers and other staff. I saw where Mark Cuban is going to make sure no one misses a paycheck with his team. I saw he was thinking of having them do some community service in lieu of their normal job, what a great idea.
