Around the League...non Padres

PreviousPage 221 of 221

A pet peeve of mine is how fans and the media (in the US mainly) only focus on the playoff winner (World Series champ, Super Bowl champ, etc).

Under appreciated is the difficulty for an organization / players to navigate a regular season (6 months MLB, 4 months NFL) to end up even in the playoffs or the best record in the league. Assembling a team ... keep performing through injuries ... etc ... is a challenge. A team such as MILW with the best record in MLB will be relegated to obscurity and only remembered as a loser in the playoffs (if remembered at all).

I am old enough to remember when the AL and NL were separate (no inter-league play) and, yes, winning the World Series was the big get ... but being the NL and AL champ was celebrated. I do miss creating enjoyment from stepping stone achievements and not just focus on negatives of losing in the playoffs.

Can't replicate the structure in European soccer where the "regular season champ" and winning the main tournaments (like playoffs) such as the FA Cup and EUFA Championship League each are celebrated.

Yes,what Milwaukee accomplished was much more impressive than what the dodgers accomplished even if they win the WS.

As well as Toronto

9 plate appearances, 2 HR, 2 2B, 5 walks( 4 of those intentional with Mookie Betts behind him!), 3 RBI, 3 runs.

This guy has redefined greatness. We as baseball fans are witnessing something that's never happened before, or may never happen again.

Great time to be a baseball fan( but not for our Padres😩)

Eric Lauer was the hero of the night for Toronto!

Kid went out there and pitched longer than anyone else tonight, keeping the Duds to nothin' for 4 and 2/3

Stupid announcers kept blowing Klein's horn( well deserved) but he didn't get as many outs as Eric.

Always liked Lauer. I imagine a lot of others will like him this off season as well.

Here we are on the precipe of game 7 of the World Series!

Definitely thought this would be a walk in the park for them but SO glad I was wrong.

Miraculously, the Duds are still in it( thank you bad base running Toronto!) And tonight, Ohtani has another opportinity to engrain himself as the greatest of all time. Personally, I hope he gets SMOKED!!!

GO JAYS!!!!

Wow....the Blue Jays absolutely choked. That was really depressing.

Just watching a video on MLB that the Reds might be a landing spot for Schwarber!!!

I'll put $100 on whatever the odds are for him breaking the single season HR record! There are SO many band boxes back east but Cincy seems to be the biggest launching pad of them all.

That would be fun to watch.

Zac Gallen declined Dbacks QO. Could this be someone the Padres could pickup?
