Around the League...non Padres

Devers has a worse contract than Bogaerts (more money / a bit longer) ... a butcher in the field (hence off 3B) ... basically a DH with an attitude. Also a bit better hitter at Fenway than AWAY.

Would not gamble he will be a great teammate no matter where he lands. Given the situation in Boston, they would probably trade Devers for Bogaerts even up and eat the difference in contracts ... and I still would not do it if I am Preller. Who would take on him for 9 years at a $29MM AAV?

Bogaerts and Devers are both signed through 2033. Devers is 4 years younger and still performing offensively. I think we've reached the point with Bogaerts where it's fair to wonder if we're waiting for a return to form that isn't going to come. He looks diminished. I think cooler heads will prevail and Devers and the decision makers will hash things out. If it were a real possibility I would much rather have Devers for a few million a year more.

I agree, if we could swap one for one, and Devers would play 1B, I would swap Devers for Bogaerts. Play Wade at SS. Leave Arraez at DH. And the line up gets that much longer than with Bogaerts.

Devers has the bat but his pure disaster in the field ... I see Arraez as a better defensive 1B. In 2024 (as a 3B), he was dead last in qualified 3B in DRS (more than twice the negative total of the next worst) and was last in OAA (also a negative number) ... and at the bottom of range factor. There was a reason (and a good one) that the Red Sox sent him to DH and said he will never see the field (before Casas' injury).

At his age he is already up to 245 lbs on a 6 foot frame ... will he be able to hit through his contract? Do the Padres (and players) really want his attitude on this somewhat cohesive team?

Not a fan of Bogaerts (and his contract) but less of a fan of the whole Devers' package and projection. Pass on Devers.

Maybe just trade Bogaerts to Boston and let him play 1B there ... where he had success way above what the did AWAY from Fenway.

Rockies manager Buddy Black was fired.

Seems unfair, at least this year, there is no chef that can make a good meal from bad ingredients.

Rockies GM needs to try something different.

If it were me I'd take pitchers with the first 6-8 picks "every" draft!

Can always sign free agent bats if/when you find 3-4 guys who can pitch and who would pitch for anyone.

Not just "Rockie" Starter types.

COLO's first need is a new owner ... then move the team to Nashville and save every team / player the pain of playing at altitude.
