Every gamble for the right price ... he has 4 more years at $27MM per year ... no one (including COLO) wants him for that price but COLO is stuck with the deal.
How much of that contract would COLO eat even for a set of marginal prospects? How much would any team (including the Padres) be willing to pay for Bryant's recent profile (he is 33 and getting older)?
If COLO would eat $20MM per season ... Padres take on $7MM per year (less than replacement level cost) and give ? prospects. Who would say no?

The Mets lead their Division at 11-7 but after all that money they spent they have FIVE players in their starting lineup still hitting under .200
Six(including Soto) hitting under .225.
I know it’s only 18 games in…..but yikes

re: Soto ... this is where BA is deceptive ... his OBP is .361 ... and he's getting the fewest strikes/PA in MLB ... agree he's overrated ... but he's still very, very good ...

Opposite paths for a couple of high-profile ex-Padres minor league pitchers. Dylan Lesko sent down to the Florida Complex League after batting arm problems early in the season. It may take a long time for him to come fully back to the expectations everyone had for him before TJ surgery. On the other hand, Robby Snelling is doing very well back in the Southern League to open the season. Expect him to hit AAA soon after just one start at that level in 2024.

IF I was a BOS fan, I would be upset with the fact that he is not willing to help the team out.
Maybe that just shows how team oriented our players are compared to him. Tatis, Merrill, Bogaerts, Cronenworth, and Arraez have all moved positions....some multiple times.
What are the thoughts of others on here about Devers unwillingness to move to 1B after the season ending surgery of Casas in BOS?

I don't get it from Devers' standpoint. Would think it would be preferable to be a 1B playing every inning vs a DH. Individuals are just that, individual and hard to understand at time.
He does have a lucrative 10 year contract ... so can take any stance with some security. (although if a major dispute ... refusal to play a position COULD be construed a breach of contract ... doubt it goes that route).
Devers may be still upset with the Red Sox for kicking him off 3B (in favor of Bergman) and relegating him to DH right out of the blocks. Red Sox have not wanted him at 1B (made that clear) so not sure they even now want him there ... maybe more media push. So Devers' ego may be damaged.
Glad that is a Boston problem and not a SD problem. East Coast media must be having a field day.

Devers comes across as selfish and the Red Sox brass come across as stupid. You would like to see your star player have a team first attitude and be willing to move to help the team out. At the same time there was no reason for the team to declare that Devers would only DH. They went so far as to say he wouldn't even play the field to give Bregman a day off. Now they have an injury across the diamond and they want to walk that back. It didn't make any sense to come out that strongly about him not playing defense. It makes even less sense given that they have another player on a big contract in Yoshida who looks like a DH only type player for them. Devers looks bad, but Breslow and company deserve their share of criticism too.

Not that they are "required" to but you would think they would have discussed all this with Devers before they signed Bregman.
My guess is they didn't and telling Raffy he's moving to DH pissed him off and now he's feeling used or under appreciated after they asked him to move again.
Right or wrong.
I think Bos should just trade him to SD for Bogaerts/ Salas/+ and call it a day.
My guess is he'd be happy to play 1B for us
