Quote from Randy Manese on November 7, 2024, 1:43 pmSome bottom of the barrel FA signees in Covey, Hedges and Hendricks. Surprised the latter took such a huge pay cut (16M+ to 2.5M) to sign with the Angels - has he really fallen that far that fast? Padres alumnus Hedges still can't hit but Cleveland still brought him back for 4M despite an OPS of under 425 this year. Don't think this will impact Padres opportunity to re-sign Higgy - I'm still guessing under 3.3M per year for the next two 2 years. Elias Diaz, however, should be looking at 4.5-5M and thus is out of range of the Padres budget.

Yeah I'm sure most pitchers are very concerned about injury, especially TJ, right now and even moreso as they age.
Martinez would even be better off taking a 3/$32 type deal just to secure the extra $12 mil without having to worry about getting hurt.
Guess it will depend on what kinds of offers he gets.

Quote from Randy Manese on December 21, 2024, 8:49 pmSeems like Guardians didn't get much in trade for Josh Naylor. He'll be a free agent next year but Cleveland always touted him as one of their leaders and he really didn't carry a high price tag - even what he was projected in arbitration. This, however, coincided with my personal view that he was always overrated as a hitter and last year sacrificed BA/OBP for HRs. Also, he is just a terrible 1st baseman - D'back defense will suffer when he plays first, which is good for the Padres. Maybe an all-star on paper but not in my book. Look for him to struggle in a very strong NL West Division.

Quote from WindsorUK on December 30, 2024, 3:05 amAndruw Jones- HOF'er or no?
His dominant 10 year period( '98- '07) saw him rule CF like no one ever has AND he mashed well over 300 HR's( 400+ total for career, plus nearly 1300 RBI and 900 walks)
Is he caught up in the steroid stuff? As I was out of country, I don't know any of that.
Unbelievable how he's gotten so little love from the voters.

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 30, 2024, 6:24 amJones is a case where his offensive numbers are close but not enough but,in my opinion....his defense was that much better than everyone else that it should be enough to push him over the edge into the Hall.
Ozzie Smith of the Outfield.

Quote from MrPadre19 on March 18, 2025, 6:09 pmJust saw a commercial about Mike Trout saying it was a dream come true to be drafted by the Angels.
I wonder if he still feels that way?
Looking at that roster, man is that team bad.
They’re in a top three market in the entire MLB and Mike Trout is the only good player they have.
