Quote from Jeremy Hill on September 30, 2023, 4:15 pmSo with the Padres officially eliminated who is everyone rooting for the rest of the way? My sister is married to a diehard Orioles fan. I'm hopping on that bandwagon. That's a fun young team. It's kind of crazy how much talent they've brought up and how much more is still on the way.

I lived in BAL for a little over a year, and saw multiple games at Camden Yards including a Sunday day game the inaugural year. Still have many friends that O's fans.
So yeah, I will be pulling for the O's.

Quote from fenn68 on October 1, 2023, 11:45 amBuck Showalter announced he would not manage the Mets next season. Previously, Terry Francona said he would retire as manager of the Guardians. Add those to the fired Kapler and already three open managerial positions … and it is not even season end.
Going to be a robust race for getting replacements. Souldn’t make any difference on the Padres decision on Melvin … but if let go … might not be that easy to get the guy they want (unless he is already in their pocket).

Quote from fenn68 on October 4, 2023, 2:07 pmI know MLB prefers not to relocate teams (but will ... see OAK) unless the situation is untenable.
With that in mind, I was watching the TB playoff game ... a team that consistently is in the playoffs (or a close contender) ... and the stands were barren. Add that observation to the fact that TB has had one of the worse home attendance for as long as I can remember. How can MLB/ownership not push to move the franchise to a city that may really support the club? It is not as though TB is a major media market and with no attendance they are a drag financially on MLB (and other teams).
Now some suggested the old ballpark and its location is the problem ... I call that narrative in MIA which got them a new ballpark on the back of taxpayers ... and guess what, attendance is still lacking.
TB's solution is to approve a new ballpark ... but not in a better location but in the same area. Someone is getting conned (fleeced) that this is a good plan.
Maybe there should be a realization that MLB does not play in FLA (never has) and FLA is a football state (HS/College/NFL) and a basketball state first.
side: should be a big set of kudos to the Padre fans who came out in droves to fill PETCO to support an underperforming team when you look at what is happening in TB.

Quote from BoosterSD on October 4, 2023, 3:13 pmAnd the majority MLB fans in FLA; especially in Tampa, are not Rays fans anyway. They are NYY/NYM fans due to the fact that many NYers retire to FLA, and that NYY ST camp is in the Tampa/St. Pete area.
Having the Rays in the same division as the NYY has killed that team from the start!

Quote from WindsorUK on October 5, 2023, 11:00 amD Backs sweep Brewers, in Milwaukee. Now on to LA!
Who had this scenario playing out? And what chance do they have against the Duds?
They've got enough pesky bats, that if their starters hold all but Betts and Freeman to normal numbers( Mookie and Freddie will get theirs), I'm thinking they can do it.( okay, hoping)
Go D'backs!

Quote from BoosterSD on October 16, 2023, 7:29 amI am a little surprised to see that MIA has not renewed or extended the contract of Ng. Seems like they were headed in the right direction under her leadership.

Odd bit in the section about KC's 8 game streak. Says they tied the game on a two out sacrifice fly in the 9th. Is that even possible???? Have a read, see what you think. Maybe I'm missing something?

Must be a mistake by the author or a misprint.
Can't think of a scenario where that's possible
