Happens every year … some true non-contender sprints out of the gate then fades in the back stretch (June swoon) while some expected playoff team stumbles out of the blocks and ends up sprinting down the stretch to make the playoffs. 162 games provide a lot of twists and turns.
Even though I know this from over a half century of watching this game … I still find it hard closing my mind to results over the first 1-2 months and over-react.
Yeah there are about 25 teams that if they were in the Pirates spot I would say they may be legit....but the Pirates aren't one of them.

Pitching is too lite.. but they have a nice 3 headed monster 2 of whom are locked up long termnand the 3rd currently injured.. They could be trouble if they address SP in the future and by addressing I mean 2 $20mil + type arms

I just don't believe they will spend enough to actually compete.
I like some of their young guys....but they need TOR starters.
This signing of Reynolds tells me they are "more" likely to trade him in the next couple years rather than less.
Now any team that wants him knows what the cost will be and the deal he signed is very affordable.

Hayes is the only other Pirate signed long term (through 2030?) ... actually he is the only other Pirate under a multi-year deal past 2023.
Also they have a large list of FA after 2023. Doubt they spend big on FA (or anyone) ... actually both Reynolds and Hayes deal are long but AAV are not all that high. Probably will focus on internal development even though that has not been working out.

The Pirates have come out hot and played a pretty weak schedule. With series against the Dodgers, Rays and Jays sandwiched around the Nats coming up we should get a better idea of who they're this year.

Well it looks final that the A's will be in a new Las Vegas stadium in 2027. The Oakland stadium lease runs through 2024. So, some question as to where the A's will play in 2025-26 (2 years)
First suggestion was in the Las Vegas minor league park (their AAA franchise) but only 10,000 seats. Basically they share.
Second suggestion is workout a 2 year "extension" in Oakland ... but given the animosity not sure either side would buy into that.
Then some real far out ideas ... one I heard was share PETCO with the Padres ... the logistics in that is hard to comprehend.
Pretty sure at some point the A's AAA franchise is moved out of LV ... and probably not to OAK (not sure any AAA club would want to go that that facility). Not sure of any city equipped to take a AAA franchise (population / ballpark).
Should be an interesting follow with the ripple effect of this move.

10,000 seats is probably still too many for that joke of a franchise.

Just went on MLB.com.
Watched a video of a Josh Naylor HR, which was followed by a Brandon Drury RBI triple( past Esteury Ruiz), followed by a Jace Peterson triple, followed by a Edward Olivares RBI.
Good to see all the ex Padres being productive. Shame the current guys can't drive in any runs though..........
