AAA El Paso Chihuahuas
Quote from LynchMob on May 9, 2019, 6:13 amThe hottest hitter in El Paso appears to be ... Boog Powell!
http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=621471#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
After going 2-for-2 with 2 walks last night, his slash stats are .458/.567/.833 for an OPS of 1.400
That's only 30 PAs in 9 games in what appears to be the best offensive environment in the minor leagues ... but ... worth keeping an eye on ... wouldn't it be fun to have a CFer with a high OBP on the Padres?

Well, as soon as he returned from injury, I was thinking "love Alex Dickerson, but this guy really is a better fit for a team down Cordero AND Jankowski on the 25-man roster... if he performs" Sure has so far, maybe after the Rox or LAD series?
BUT... look who just shook loose today...
Blue Jays Select Javy Guerra (not THAT Javy Guerra :)), Designate Socrates Brito
Brito had Atrocious #'s in small sample & is out of options, but not impossible Pads could claim him again and give him a look... same idea; better "fit" as a speed/defense LH OF than Dickerson who really is primarily a pinch hitter on this 25-man. Band aid until Franchy or Freddy returns. If we do, it would mean we picked up OF Rodrigo Orozco --who looks like at least a really good "org" guy @ AA-- for nothing!

I remain FACINATED by Boog Powell! I suppose he's example #1 of what the guys are complaining about with our AAA at El Paso (and AA at Amarillo), where the offensive environment makes it easy to see things that are not real? ie. Boog Powell probably is not THIS good ...

Currently slashing .404/.523/.769 after 18 games (65 PAs) ... hit his 5th HR yesterday ...
And we can't get him on the 40-man ... so ... I guess we wait for a 60-day injury?

Quote from MrPadre19 on May 19, 2019, 10:40 amThe results for Mejia,France,Allen and Urias in MLB,who all completely dominated AAA, pretty much shows us we have no idea how good these hitters really are.
Obviously to different levels and opportunity.....but still.
It’s frustrating.
Is what Urias is doing since his demotion mean anything?
Of course we would like to think so....but how can anyone know?
BTW......could they be coordinating Urias’s call up with Tatis’s reinstatement?
How great would it be to have Machado-Tatis-Urias-Hosmer the rest of the way?

Good ol' Jesse Scholtens went 5 IP giving up only 2 hits and 1 walk ... he's 28 ...
