30-man Active O.D., 40-man MLB, 60-man "Taxi" Rosters

The Padres have announced a series of roster moves, including IL placements for outfielder Wil Myers and reliever Emilio Pagan. They also optioned David Bednar and Taylor Williams to their alternate site, and added new acquisitions Mike Clevinger, Greg Allen and Dan Altavilla to their 28-man roster.
Myers sounds like the same issue as Morejon ... flu like symptoms ... so just a couple of days (hopefully) under precautionary COVID procedures.
Pagan ... bicep issue ... that should be at least a 10 day issue.

Pagan's had the biceps issue for awhile.

On Myers expect 3 days ... sort of the timeframe they had with Morejon and in ST with Tatis.
Hopefully with Lamet and Clevinger going in Anaheim and the top of the line-up in tact ... that is enough to beat a weak LAA team.

Not for "COVID symptoms" ... as with Morejon who was out only 3 days.

Quote from fenn68 on September 3, 2020, 11:31 amSaw a note from Dennis Lin that the Padres are considering calling up Campusano in September. Apparently he is ripping it at the alternate site.
Great he is hitting ... and we know Preller loves to challenge his top prospects ... BUT not sure the sense in adding Campusano to the 40 (does not have to be added this winter) for a “look and see” in a couple of games. Plus not sure who I would dump off the 28 man.
Probably just an off the wall thought ... but does suggest that Campusano may be closer to the ML than I expected (out of ST next year? Castro a FA). Not sure what that says about Mejia’s future (short term and 2021). Could they see a 3 headed catcher / DH plan in 2021 ... spelling a short run for Moreland and/or Pham and create the ability to redeploy their money?

Quote from Randy Manese on September 3, 2020, 12:35 pmCampusano won the California league batting title even though he is a catcher, meaning very few infield hits. The ball just rockets off his bat, sounding more solid than Arias, Ornelas, either Rosario or Ruiz in that Elsinore lineup. His batting eye is also very good, with walks almost equal to strikeouts. With his hitting, the only question was whether he could get to his power in game action, since he has the same reported raw power as Bart and Rutschman; started to do that last year. On defense, his arm is rated as equal to the top two, but his mobility and framing were trailing. If he has increased his mobility, by losing weight and gaining flexibility, then framing is something he can learn and don't forget, he caught both Gore and Patino last year in what was a very decent Elsinore staff. I think he advances quickly - maybe just a half-season more in high A. Glad we did not include him in any trades.
What to do with Mejia? My crystal ball says he goes to Texas Rangers in a surprising multi-player deal for Joey Gallo! I'm getting my Preller mojo going!

Quote from MrPadre19 on September 3, 2020, 1:21 pmIf you bring up Campusano its a clear sign that all that matters is winning in the Playoffs.
There's no reason to do it unless you feel he will help you win games.....so that's great.
They have nothing ahead of winning.
But I find it hard to believe they would bring him up barring an injury to one of our 2 Catchers.

Quote from Randy Manese on September 3, 2020, 2:03 pmCastro probably too expensive to re-sign, so Mejia still fills the LH hitting catcher role next year if he is not traded. Nola will get the majority of starts until Campusano is ready to take over, which maybe a year or so down the road if we're talking about FT. Nola still has value at other positions/DH and Mejia could do the same, i.e., OF/DH. Campy, of course, could DH. I'm interested to see how Moreland does this year - don't see it as automatic that they pick up his option, even though it is very reasonable. Haven't been too impressed by his swing so far even though he's gotten a couple of hits. I guess I'm expecting more hard contact given his stats for Boston.

Quote from Brian Connelly on September 3, 2020, 3:06 pmI think the idea with Campusano is more along the lines of a September callup.
We are fairly locked into the #4 spot, but maybe his bat adds more chance to catch LAD than Morejon or Patino in the pen.
It's going to be more common to see more games like last night where the pen is lightly used. No built in 6-7 innings of pen use every 5th day PLUS the unplanned "bad" starts. I could see them rolling the young P's down to give Campusano a taste of MLB; likely nothing to lose or gain standings wise by doing so, but a reward to him for his progress.
Interesting that maybe C's are the one position that could "develop" the most "normally" this season. Campy facing better (if VERY redundant, like everyone else) SP than he would have in a regular Minors season, and Catching "better" P; including all our elite prospects; essentially working with a "staff" as he would have; just a better one. Only negative is facing/prepping for same hitters over & over, but everyone not in MLB dealing with that. Think the younger prospects "pulled up" probably get some benefit too, but the Pitchers after awhile not being in real games & always facing the same 8 guys might suffer. Also the more veteran guys (Trammell) who really need to be facing all AA/AAA P's, not Joey Cantillo & Cole Wilcox.
