2025 Padres Season

PreviousPage 68 of 68

I wish they did both.

The Team really only cares about the money from ticket sales...but I'd like to know if we had more fans "at the games" than any other team in MLB

After watching all 162 games this season I now have to sneak at work and watch the Playoffs on my phone.

Ugh!

Only at Wrigley is this an issue.....sucks royally IMO.

Couldn't they have had ONE game at night?

Guess I'll have to be satisfied with watching the three wins against the Brewers in the comfort of my own home.

The only games I've been too in the last few seasons that haven't been clear sellouts have been weekday day games. Even those I would guess have had 30,000+. Petco has just under 40,000 seats. I've seen attendance over 47,000 before. Average attendance is over 42,000. The Dodgers average more, but Dodgers stadium also has 15,000+ more seats. We've been averaging more fans than we have seats for. That's pretty amazing.

Note that the start time of playoff games is dictated by the TV networks ... getting what they consider the most nationally appealing into East Coast Prime Time.

Did hear that Thursday' game MIGHT end up in a later time slot IF the other playoff series end in two.

If they weren't in Chicago they wouldn't all be day games though.

Shildt announced Cease will start game 2 and Darvish will get game 3 if necessary. I'm sure the fact that King and Vasquez have experience pitching out of the bullpen factored into the decision. Diaz said he was ready to go. Both Campusano and Maldonado are with the team.

Both Cease and Darvish will have short leashes I would assume.

Best case scenario we win game 1 without having to use Miller/Morejon/Suarez.

Would set up a game 2 with a possibility of Cease going 3-4......King going 2-3.......then the high leverage guys.

Oh to dream!

It will be all hands on deck for all games in the series, whether it is 2 or 3 games.  Some guys might have to go all 3 games if necessary.  Go Pads, beat the Cubs!

Remember, Wrigley Field has had lights since in 1988, so night games are possible.  In fact, if another series or 2 ends in two games, then Game 3 would be moved to the prime time/eastern time zone slot.  I doubt you are only remembering 1984, when the Cubs were supposed to host 3 of the 5 game series, but they didn't have lights so MLB allowed only the first 2 games to be played in Chicago and the last 3 games were in San Diego at the old Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium.

Nice article of the Pads comeback against the Cubbies in 1984 by winning 3 straight in San Diego.  Good read to refresh our memories!  Go Pads, beat the Cubs again!
