2025 Padres Season

PreviousPage 44 of 68Next

The Padres announced Monday that they’ve reinstated right-hander Logan Gillaspie from the 15-day injured list. Rather than add the out-of-options righty back to the active roster, San Diego has designated him for assignment.

Opens a spot on the 40 man for Darvish to come off the 60 day IL.

Thought ... MINN is 4 games under .500 and falling out of the Wild Card race ... so, likely sellers.

They have two "rentals" in RHH Bader (LF) and RHH France (DH) ... both have small contracts and both are hitting slightly above average.

Since "rentals" such as this normally don't require much in return in a trade ... might make them (either one or both) a good trade target for Preller. IF Bader, Sheets is at DH. IF France, Sheets is LF. IF both likely Bader is in LF (plus defense), Sheets at 1B, and France off the bench.

Probably could use mid-range SP/RP prospects to get in done ... bottom half of Top 30 or even not ranked.

Im not sure if he would be a difference maker; however depending on moves made and health, could probably get Paddack back on the cheap as well.

IMO, he is no better than Cease.

IMI, he is no better than Cease.

I dont think that he is; however, say we get a really nice haul for Cease and Paddack could be even close to Cease while picking up some good/controllable prospects for Cease. Could be a win/win!

Despite all the frustration with the Padres recently .... wake up this morning and they are in the #3 Wild Card spot!

Tight race with them being one less loss than STL and SF and only 2 more losses than #1 NYM and #2 MILW. All that could change in one week or as likely all the teams bounce around the .500 mark for the rest of the season and we have a nail biter for the playoffs in SEPT.

I resurrect Bryan Reynolds (PITT) as a trade target for LF. He is having an "off year" ... 236/304/385 with a wRC+ of 89 BUT his 2023-25 stats are better at 263/331/440 with a wRC+ of 109.

I just saw on MLBTR that KC has some interest in Reynolds as well. I would think that KC has better prospects that would entice PIT over SD, and of course competition raises the price either way.

What do the Cubs need?

We have an SP, RP, 1B all available.

If we could get Cassie in return for any( or all!) of those guys, I'd certainly prefer that than watching all these guys walk at the end of the year for nothing.

And....Cassie slots right into LF for the rest of the year.

Hard to see the Padres taking on Reynolds' contract for 5 more years around $80MM when he is 30 and having an offseason (or a decline season?).

KC is not a big spender but really lack OF and have a low payroll so taking the contract might be their real advantage using just some good prospects.

PITT wants to drop payroll but they have little offense without (or with) Reynolds ... PITT is in a pickle.
