Not gonna believe me, but when I saw Suarez coming I saw this one coming, not because I dont think he will be good throughout the season, he could, should, but because he was ask to close a game on his MLB debut,  that just wasnt fair to the guy, that once again goes to show us just how difficult it is to close games at the MLB level.

I agree. When I saw him come in I got a knot in my stomach. My thought was how they were putting the rook straight into the fire.

Who made the decision to put him into that situation?

I'm sure Melvin makes that decision.....are he should.

It's what we signed him for...I don't think at this level you can baby a guy who's meant to be your Closer.

Now,they maybe could have taken him out after the 2nd BB when it was clear he didn't have it...and they certainly should have put Beer on after the Stammen WP to load the bases and set up the DP and force at home.Don't even know who was due up next but not setting up the DP is inexcusable no matter who it was up next.

3 batter minimum. They couldn't pull him until after the HBP.

Where was Lamet during this......major league pitcher with a wipe out slider ?

Further more....Stammen had already heated up in the 6th then sat down.....I know from experience it's hard to get heated up again and get the mind set dialed in.....just sayin.

Just a bad move all around

Doh!

Still getting used to some of these new rules I’m afraid.

Unless he was hurt….;)

Suarez made all the sense to come in for the 9th ... didn't work but the decision was solid.

He was coming off a ST were in 4 games (4 innings) only gave up 3 hits / 1 run and walked zero with 7 strikeouts. That basically was validation of signing him for $6MM after being the dominant closer in Japan ... and he is no kid at 31.

Not so sure on the logic for Stammen unless they though he had better control that the other options and would be a better ground ball option ... clearly that did not work.

Yeah I'm with Fenn. Nerves clearly got the better of Suarez, but I'm fine with the decision. Hopefully with Rogers around he'll be able to adjust with less pressure on him.
