I can’t even articulate how happy I am I didn’t stay up for the end of this one!
I would have exploded when Pagan was allowed to stay in after 2 home runs and again when Tatis K’d on 3 pitches.

Sounds like the players have had enough.
No way Preller can keep him, if he himself is still around?

You simply cannot let Preller make another bad hire at manager. Therefore, he has to go.
This roster screams experienced, grizzled manager to me. Someone with baseball chops whom the players will respect. I will say it again…Bochy or Showalter.

Not sure that strategy worked all that well in PHIL with Girardi (remember replaced the inept Kapler per the PHIL fans ... oops now managing the best record in baseball SF hired right after being fired in PHIL) .... or with Maddon with the Angels (genius in TB and Cubs ... loser in LA).
On the other side, still don't know the names of the managers in ATL (going for 4th straight Division title) or STL (amazing finishing run to the playoffs) ... both were "older" but with minor league experience (but no name guys). Then Cash in TB ... when hired younger with minimal experience and TB has done OK.
I will agree with the end of the Tingler era .... just no bias on the profile of the replacement ... just want a competent hire ... but don't expect that with Preller in charge (and realistically he is not going anywhere right now ... just hired a pal from Texas for the front office).
From what I understand Tingler did not have the opportunity to hire "his" coaches and I expect that he was getting clear direction from the "front office" on game strategy / player usage. Preller runs the show at the detail level ... a fact that will not change ... and hard to imagine any successful veteran old school manager taking the job under those conditions. May not like it ... but have to deal with reality of the moment.
Side: the fate of two coaches will be interesting ... Dickerson and Kirby. Remember a key part of their hiring was to satisfy Machado (make him better), and generally have. Dump them ... does Machado regress? On the other hand was not the blow up with Tatis stemming off a Tatis - Dickerson confrontation. (lest we forget the Pham - Dickerson spat early in the year). Dickerson for manager?
The coming moves with be to say the least "interesting"

neither were likely to pitch the rest of the season anyway so a convenient way to clear some space for the two adds.

Yeah Booster, you might win that one.
Although, both I imagine are gut wrenching. And as a long time fan of all things SD( Pads, Clips, Chargers), I comiserate.

Oh I was a Charger fan too...from day one just like the Padres.
But I moved out east close to Jacksonville and when they got the Jags in 1995 I adopted them but still rooted for the Bolts too.
Until they moved to L.A. that is.
The only thing I have going for me is my college Team is the Florida Gators.
At least they have had a few Championships in both football and basketball.
But....I sure would like one for my Pro teams before I die.
I'm running out of Decades......
