Quote from Cptjack on August 2, 2019, 5:27 amInternational pool money is so cheap. You really have to wonder why a team wouldn't push to 11m and try to control the market. Coming into agreement prior to the window is part of it, no doubt. There are a lot of non j2 guys though.

Would make sense if they find trading partners to get those allocations ... to that level ... and still being cheap.
The way the international signings seem to work ... the agreements happen well before the J2 start ... suggesting a team needs to know the available money early ... at least for the higher ranked prospects. That would suggest that current trades for international allocations should be for the 2020-21 signing period ... think that is within the rules.
Would seem that may be a target for the returns on some of the 40 man roster fringe players that need to be shaved off for making the winter roster. Maybe a better longer term value than the PTNL/Cash Considerations.

The Padres believe Carl Edwards can benefit from a change of scenery. The Cubs believe the same of Brad Wieck.
So the two teams on Wednesday swapped relievers ahead of Major League Baseball’s new hard trading deadline.
The Padres also received $500,000 in international bonus money.
