2019 MLB DRAFT

I'm happy with the top of the draft. 6 guys consistently rated the top 6; we took the guy who fell to us. Some might feel he's too similar to X Edwards, but CF is quickly becoming Pads biggest issue: not only does Margot's ceiling shrink every day; Gettys still can't make contact even in PCL, Buddy Reed seems either unable or unwilling to change his approach to utilize his best tool (speed) --aside, what else is new--and Jeisson Rosario disappointing so far @ A+.... so Abrams could move to CF sooner than later. That speed could make him unbelievable ground-coverer...
Love that top 2 guys are HS. That top 3 are position players. Love that we actually went for some power early! Love that we keep drafting C's high: No other team in MLB can possibly have our system's depth: Hedges, Mejia, A. Allen, Torrens, Campusano, Blake Hunt, now Driscoll, and don't forget about Alison Quintero lurking in short season.
Excited to see how tomorrow plays out

REALLY hoping for Hunter Barco with our next pick.
LHP out of the Bolles school in Jacksonville.
Was ranked around 35 on most boards.
He and RHP Matthew Allen are both hard commits to The Gators but with the $ expected to be saved with our first 3 picks I'm hoping we can entice one of these kids to forgo College.

Hope Ornelas helps with that soon. Cordero is also kinda overlooked.
Cordero needs to stay healthy, could be good if he can stay on the field.

It's a crapshoot of all crapshoots.
Bishop could easily end up the better player.....as could some guy picked in the 8th round.
The MLB draft is the biggest unknown in sports.

Totally agree, its amazing to see when things finally click for guys, if ever! Roll the dice.

I like him too. He is the best prep LHP which you know the Padres love to take.

With the 3rd round the Padres select CF Hudson Head Churchill HS, San Antonio

Head is just like Mason House. He didn't play much in showcases but is spring his stock went up quick. He has good speed that is a plus. He has surprise power in a little fame. His has a quick bat but will need to clean up on his swing. He has little track record against quality competition. He did not produce at the World Wood Bat Association World Championship. He is committed to play at Oklahoma
