Looks like Lucchesi will be the starting pitcher tomorrow for Lamet.  That was quick!  Joey Fuego in da hizzle

Awesome! I just drafted Joey for one of my Keeper online Strat teams. C'mon Joey, I'm counting on ya. Can't wait to see him.

Looks like Lopez was moved off the 25 man for Lucchesi. The latter is on it and the former is not on team sitr.

Remember that there's another 40-man and 25-man roster move coming in the next little bit to get Tyson Ross on the big league roster as well. Would think that the 40-man space will be taken care of by moving Cordoba to the 60-day DL.

I suspect there will still be some other movement around the edges. As a reminder, here are the 40-man roster guys not currently on the big league roster or DL:

Pitchers:
Baumann
Brewer
Castillo
Diaz
Lockett
Wieck

Position Players:
Guerra
Jankowski
Lopez
Torrens

Trade Sczur or Jankowski to TEX.  They need a capable CF for a few weeks.  DeShields is out with hamate surgery.  Lottery ticket return.

I think we already see "holes" on the 25 man roster that will be filled from people returning from injury or other.

I cant see Villanueva staying on the team.
Cimber has looked far from even "ok."  I think he gets replaced soon... (Bauman/Maton/Stock)
Lyles is an afterthought, but I think he was only on the team because Strahm wasnt healthy.
Perdomo goes down, Erlin slots in.  Give Erlin/Lucchesi a couple weeks to see what they have.

I would expect a lot of shuffling ... especially in the first month or so ... mostly in the pitching staff with options to the minors and 10 day DL stints.

Consider tomorrow the Padres start a 17 consecutive game streak ... are currently carrying only 12 pitchers (norm lately has been 13) ... and have minimal expectations that they will get a lot of 7 inning performances from the starters (they are playing good hitting teams in Colorado, Houston, and LAD). Would expect them to move to 13 arms this week.

Ross should be added to the 25 man roster this week ... guessing either Szczur or Villanueva get DFA (or traded) over Spangenberg getting optioned. That moves the staff to 13.

Before we make the call on the fate of Perdomo ... we should see if Mitchell can hold a SP spot (not seen enough of him). I guess for the short term musical chairs for 3 SP spots (1 RP spot) among Perdomo, Mitchell, Lucchesi, and Erlin with Richard and Ross holding the other 2 SP slots. If one of the Perdomo, Lucchesi, or Erlin underperform can be optioned and a RP (Brewer, Maton) might get the call (Mitchell out of options so would have to be the RP option). That dance will do a lot to preserve RP roles ... for the near term ... for Lyles and Cimber (the 10 day return rule curbs a bit of haste in making multiple moves).

Then ... hopefully ... in about 4 weeks Lamet is back for a SP spot and that should really rattle the cage. At that point would not be surprised to see a Richard, Ross, Lamet, Erlin, Mitchell starting staff with Lucchesi and Perdomo in AAA.

McGrath sent to EP, and Cordoba to 60 day DL to make room for Ross.

Is Headley gonna get Wally Pipped?

Never thought Headley should have started the season in front of Villanueva any way.

How nice is Galvis looking right now. Both in the field and at the plate. Its nice to see a ground ball off a RH hitter and think; hey, this has a really good chance to be an out. AJ might want to call his agent, and talk extension. I know we are all psyched for Tatis; however, Galvis is looking like a nice insurance policy.
