He a athletic, versatile player. He played LF but can play 2nd and 3rd base and CF. He always makes good contact and make s good pitch recognition. He not going to be a power hitter he is more a gap hitter. They had him play SS before during the fall/winter but his arm is below avg at the position.

They could pressure him to go to College.
Although he did say he couldn’t wait to get out there and play professionally with fellow Vandy commit Weathers.

Quote from David Jay on June 5, 2018, 9:16 amHe and an entire flock of friends and family flew up to Secaucus to be one of six players present at the draft program. He's signing.
A little look ahead for day two:

Quote from sportwarrior on June 5, 2018, 10:18 amWhat's the deal with the Owen Miller selection? Jim Callis profiled him as an offensive MI, but also noted that he wasn't ranked in their top 200. A guy like that wouldn't be available at 111 or 141?

He a steady contact hitter that projected to be good. Speed is good to plus at times. He has good hand and also good range in the infield. He arm is below avg for the SS position. He needs to produce more power, he has a good frame and strong swing but he is a gap to gap hitter.

Most likely but he may be a joey lucchesi signing deal. I hope.

Quote from sportwarrior on June 5, 2018, 10:33 amI like to swing for the fences with these round 2-5 picks. Big fan of getting guys like Gettys or Thompson or Lawson. Owen Miller feels much more like a safe, boring pick. That's not to say he can't or won't be good, but it feels weird nabbing a guy who wasn't ranked highly predraft, who is literally the only guy in the 3rd round without video, who has a "fringe arm and footwork" and could end up moving to 2b. I suppose that all spells "signability" and a desire to save some money for guys that might fall in rounds 4-6... but that's assuming guys fall to rounds 4-6, right?

Somebody liked him....his Baseball America ranking was 392
2 shortstops in the same draft.....protection maybe if Edwards goes to Vandy ?
Lack of true shortstops in the minors ?
I guess time will tell
