Prospect Watch: El Paso managed 10 hits, but only one went for extra bases and the club went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position as they lost their series opener against the Space Cowboys. … Pablo Reyes collected a pair of hits, including a double. He also added his 13th stolen base of the season. Reyes ranks fifth in the PCL with a .333 average, and his .438 on-base percentage ranks second. The veteran infielder doesn’t possess much power, but he’s walked more than he’s struck out, and he can play any position in the infield. … Will Wagner singled and drew a walk Tuesday. The 27-year-old has reached base in 13 straight games, and after a slow start, he’s homered three times over his last 10 games. Overall, the former Astro and Blue Jay is hitting .273/.409/.420 for El Paso. … Righty Germán Márquez made his first rehab start and pitched well over 2.1 innings. He allowed just one hit while punching out three batters. Marquez’s velocity reached 96 mph a few times but sat mostly at 94 mph, which was on par with what he flashed with the Padres this season. Currently, there is no obvious rotation spot for Marquez in San Diego, and he has no minor league options, so his roster status will be one to watch down the road. For now, he seems likely to make several more starts in the minors.

Prospect Watch: The Missions had a few timely hits and rode excellent pitching to a win in Wichita. … Righty Ian Koenig turned in his finest start as a professional, earning his third win of the year in the process. The 25-year-old worked seven innings and allowed just one unearned run on one hit. While he walked two and hit three batters, he also matched a career high for the second straight outing by striking out seven batters. The run he allowed scored on what should have been an inning-ending double play, but Missions second baseman Carson Tucker threw the ball away. Koenig has pitched well as of late, as he has allowed just three earned runs in his last 19 innings. His start on Tuesday lowered his season ERA to 3.83. In his first crack at the Double-A level, he’s posting a career-best WHIP of 1.14 across 51.2 innings. … Ryan Jackson had a multi-hit game that included a single and a double. The 24-year-old got on base at a .389 clip in May, but he managed just two extra-base hits all month, resulting in a .316 slugging percentage. The former USC and Nevada infielder plays all around the infield and has a career .382 on-base percentage in over 700 plate appearances as a professional. … Albert Fabian had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs in the victory. The Missions outfielder struggled last month, slugging just .290. At his best, Fabian has displayed double-digit home run power, but including Tuesday, he’s slugging just .351 for San Antonio.

TinCaps 6, Lake County Captains 5

Key Statistics: SS Justin DeCriscio 2-for-5, R, RBI; 1B Lamar King Jr. 2-for-3, R, BB; LF Jack Costello 1-for-3, HR (6), 3 RBI; DH Alex McCoy 1-for-3, R, RBI; RHP Matthew Watson 5 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, BB, 7 K; RHP Ty Adcock 2 IP, H, ER, 3 K; LHP Ryan Och IP, BB, 2 K; RHP Clay Edmondson (W, 2-2) IP, H, 3 K

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps fell behind 4-0 in the first inning before battling all the way back to defeat Lake County on a walk-off single to win the series-opener. … Shortstop Justin DeCriscio had the walk-off hit as part of a multi-hit night. The Orange, California native got off to a hot start with the Storm this season and earned a promotion to High-A. Since arriving in the Summit City, he has continued to hit. In 17 games, he sports a solid .794 OPS. … Jack Costello connected on a two-run homer in the second inning to open up the scoring for Fort Wayne. It was the former USD Torero’s sixth homer of the 2026 campaign. Costello ranks third on the Fort Wayne roster with 18 extra-base hits, and he is currently sporting a career-high 14% walk-rate. Costello has seen a bit of an uptick in his strikeout rate, but he’s shown considerably more power in his second stint with the TinCaps. His slugging percentage is up 101 points from last season through 181 plate appearances. … Matthew Watson gave up four runs in the first but pitched well after that and ultimately completed five innings of work. He allowed four runs on four hits, walking one and striking out a career-high seven batters. The former 13th-round pick has a 4.30 ERA in eight appearances (five games) this season as he works back from Tommy John surgery.. … Righty Ty Adcock continued his rehab stint in the Midwest League by firing two innings. He allowed a homer and struck out three. The 29-year-old has been exceptionally homer-prone, which has to be a concern, even for a rehabbing pitcher with big league service time. In his six innings with Fort Wayne, he’s allowed three homers, resulting in a 10.80 ERA. The former Met still has a minor league option, so he will likely end up with El Paso in the coming weeks. … Lefty Ryan Och had his rehab assignment moved to Fort Wayne, and he tossed a scoreless inning, walking one and striking out a pair of Captains. Och made four appearances for the ACL Padres and struggled a bit, allowing six runs in 4.1 innings. He should make another appearance or two this week, before joining the upper-level teams shortly. … Righty Clay Edmondson held off the Captains in the ninth, tossing a scoreless inning while striking out the side. The 22-year-old has allowed just one earned run in 22 innings, good for a microscopic ERA of 0.41. Opposing hitters are batting just .127 against him, and he’s racked up 33 strikeouts in 22 innings.

Fresno Grizzlies 6, Storm 5

Key Statistics: 3B-1B Kerrington Cross 1-for-3, 2 BB, 2 RBI, SB (8); 2B Jose Verdugo 2-for-5, R; DH Truitt Madonna 1-for-3, R, BB; RHP Winyer Chourio 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K; RHP Joseph Herrera 2 IP, H, BB, 2 K; RHP Will Koger (L, 2-2) 0.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER

Prospect Watch: The Storm went into the ninth with a one-run lead, but the Grizzlies plated two to hand the Storm a defeat in their series opener in Fresno. … Second baseman Jose Verdugo had a pair of hits, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. The 18-year-old is hitting an even .400 (16-for-40) during the hot stretch that has seen his batting average go from .232 to .272. He’s also sporting an excellent 15% K-rate during the hot stretch. The undersized infielder has limited power potential, but he’s shown the ability to make consistent contact while playing against much older competition. He won’t turn 19 until the end of September. … Righty Winyer Chourio worked five innings, but he didn’t ultimately factor in the decision after allowing three earned runs on five hits. He walked three and struck out four, the fewest he’s punched out in any start this season (he struck out one batter in a relief outing). Overall, Chourio has a 3.63 ERA for the Storm this season. … Lefty Joseph Herrera took over for Chourio and tossed a pair of scoreless innings. He allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out two. After allowing four runs on May 20 while failing to record an out, the 20-year-old has allowed just one run over his last 5.2 innings.

ACL Padres 9, ACL Giants 2 (7 innings)

Key Statistics: CF Moises Valdez 2-for-4, R, 2 2B; SS Jhoan De La Cruz 2-for-4, R, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI; LF Fabian Alcantara 1-for-3, 2 R, HR (2), 2 RBI; C Jhojan Downer 2-for-3, 2 R, RBI, SB (4); LHP Jeronimo Palmeros 1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB; RHP Landry Jurecka 1.2 IP, 2 K; RHP Erick Batista (W, 2-0) 3 IP, 3 BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The ACL Padres had five extra-base hits in an easy win against their Giants counterparts. The victory improved the Padres’ record to .500 (11-11). … Moises Valdez continued his hot hitting with a pair of doubles in the victory. Valdez, 20, improved his batting average to .395 – a mark that would rank second in the circuit if he had enough plate appearances to qualify. After spending three years in the DSL, Valdez has a .955 OPS in the desert this season. … Catcher Jhojan Downer had a pair of singles and stole his fourth bag of the year. The 18-year-old from Panama signed with the Padres as part of their 2024 international signing class for just $10,000, but he’s swung the bat well in the desert to start the season. Downer is hitting .316/.480/.368 in 15 games. … Righty Landry Jurecka continued his rehab assignment and tossed 1.2 innings, striking out a pair. The 23-year-old was drafted in the 18th round last year out of Queens University of Charlotte. He’s appeared in five games in the desert, pitching to a 10.50 ERA.
