Who will be the next manager?

PreviousPage 2 of 3Next

And the winner is.....Craig Stammen. Really!?!?

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/padres-to-hire-craig-stammen-as-manager.html

Whats he going to do, sit in the dugout until the 6th or 7th inning, make one decision, and head to the clubhouse???

Love Stammen but this comes off as a "Do Boy" hire.

Could either be brilliant, or the final nail in the Preller coffin.

Unfortunately it could waste another year with some aging players.

Or is it simply a cost savings hire?

Four finalists with no managerial experience … which seems the norm in MLB this offseason.

No way we know who would have been better … if anyone.

Pujols is 0 for 3 in job interviews this offseason … beginning to say something about him?

Let’s see who comes in as his coaches … main bench man. Neibla is under contract and will likely run the pitching.

Honest question: why are there no former major league pitchers managing in MLB( well, until today)?

Smells like a Green/Tingler type hire.

Hopefully this will prove more fruitful🤞🏽

Bud Black was a former MLB pitcher, he did well.

I guess in fairness to Preller, except for 1 fill in game, Dave Roberts had zero managerial experience and that has turned out OK.

So I am going to try and be positive about this hire and say that finally the front office and coaching team will truly be on the same page and cohesive on strategies for the ML team.

Does Mark Loretta stand a chance at being the next Batting Coach?

With Stammen going from Padre player to front office to manager, does Preller follow the same formula?
