Welcome to San Diego Blake Snell

2018: 31 starts .... 180 innings (5.8 per start) ... 1.89 ERA
But:
2017: 24 starts .... 129 innings (5.4 per start) ... 4.04 ERA
2019: 23 starts .... 107 innings (4.7 per start) ... 4.29 ERA
2020: 11 starts .... 50 innings (4.5 per start) ... 3.24 ERA
Just has not shown the profile of an "ace" other than 2018 .... doesn't have the results and does not pitch the innings. Worried about that downward innings per game since 2018 ... Padres are going to have to really bulk up the pen if Snell is only a 5 inning or less pitcher and have a ML arm in reserve to cover his missed starts.
Not overwhelmed with the add.
Obviously no pitcher is perfect. However, it does so happen that Snell's lifetime ERA after 5 years is...3.24. Which also happens to be exactly the same ERA that he posted this year. So on average Snell should give us the exact same performance he did this year. Sure he will have worse years. He will also have better years. 2020 was an AVERAGE year for him. It was pretty good.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 7, 2021, 10:06 amI actually picked Snell to win the NL Cy Young this year on the MLB contest.
Obviously a Homer pick....but,coming to the NL his K numbers should rise and his peripherals should improve, at least this year, just by swapping out the DH for the Pitcher in the batting order.

*sigh*
Wonder if he was wishing Kiermmaier came in the trade with him. Would have won 2 to zip.
