St. Louis Cardinals at San Diego Padres: May 7-10

So Tatis makes that error last night basically allowing 2 extra runs to score yet Canning is still charged with 6 earned.I know there’s a reason but does anyone know the exact reason?
If he doesn’t make that error even if he doesn’t throw anyone out it’s very possible Stl doesn’t score 6.

Just seems like BS to me

Even If Tatis didn't make the error, knowing what happened after it, those runners would've scored anyway,

Padres finally beat the Cardinals. Dodgers losing 6-0 in the 5th.

Vasquez was outstanding and the BP held them.

Need to win tomorrow for the split.

GO PADRES!

Manny with his 200th career HR as a Padre and has 375 for his career total now.  Go Manny!

Since the error only allowed runners to advance (did not replace an out) ... the official scorer looks at the rest of the inning and concludes those runners would have scored anyway based on the hits / outs that followed.

Still odd to me.

If he doesn’t make the error the entire rest of the inning probably plays out differently…..especially if he gets an out at home instead.

Official scorer can't really base his decision on what he thinks might have happened but for the error ... just has to stick with a pretty structured view of actual events.

I guess for a more extreme view ... since Tatis' error did not put a man on base and only advanced runners who (per the official scorer) would have scored anyway ... did Tatis really commit an error?

Do we think Manny gets to 400 this year?

Based on total numbers the past few years, I guess no is the answer but it'll be fun if he gets close in September/ October 👍🏽

Good question, probably comes up a few short of 400 this year, but MM has had hot streaks and carried the club for awhile, so it is not impossible.  I specifically remember the 2022 season as a long sustained hot streak, even with a severely sprained ankle.  Good MM!
