Yeh, it was Adrian Martinez … apparently the TV guys just got it wrong and thought is was Nick (both the announcers and the graphics folks) … it is ST after all. Having not seen either one … I can see how they got it wrong if no one checked the number on the back.
Now that make a lot more sense.

Well the guy who feeds info to Orsillo and Grant must be a rookie … when Luis Garcia came in the game, Grant said it was good to have a guy who started 28 games with Houston … wrong Luis Garcia. Padres have the Luis Garcia who pitched for STL last season as a RP (Orsillo got it right later in the play by play.)
Side … a pet peeve for me … veteran media types who don’t make the effort to know the the team they are paid to cover. I have heard that on the Padre radio station and on TV. Maybe ego but seems to be individuals being “too good” to pay attention to detail. In this case, Garcia is on the 40 man … not some low A guy called over for the game.
Having said that, based on his performance, Garcia may be closer to a low A player than making the active roster … looked bad. Age 36.

Campusano had a passed ball and did not catch a pop-up by home plate … hard to say if he was called off but did not look good. Earning AAA.
Batten (3B) looked bad and made a throwing error.

He looked terrible. It's only his first appearance, but based on that small sample I have no idea why we signed him to a two year deal. At best that looked like minor league/spring invite material to me.

I did not get the signing at 2 years (about $3.5MM per). He had a good finish to 2021 with STL then have to go back to 2017 with PHIL for a good season. At 35 seems questionable.
Hopefully just needs more work to get going. Hope.

1st inning … Abrams hits a big shot just foul off Plesac … then strikes out. Still, good AB.
On the other hand, Campusano looks to be quickly earning his ticket to AAA (if not traded). Struck out … again seemed to have no plate discipline … and on the 3rd strike went all out with a big swing. Two men were on base … one out. Austin Hedges without the defense so far.

So Kim hasn't adjusted his swing much... but he has looked dramatically improved against major league fastballs in his (extremely) small sample size so far this spring. He's got 4 hits in 6 at bats a year after totaling 7 in 42 at bats last spring. Does it mean much? Probably not yet. But I'm rooting for him.

Campusano watch … strikeout again … same free swinging on 3rd strike.
Maybe the should trade him before he loses all trade value!

Campy could be pressing here knowing that he has to put up a good showing to break camp with the big league club. That said, I'd prefer it if the offense started waking up. This has been a very slow start at the plate for the team as a whole this spring. The pitching has been clubbed around today a good amount, too... 9 hits in 5 innings from guys that are slated for the majors. Plenty of time to get on the right track, but... well, you know. Let's do it sooner rather than later.
