The Padres enter this series with a 4-game losing streak, lost 3 straight series, coming off their first sweep of the season, losing 8 of their last 11 games and in 3rd place 1.5 games behind the first place Dodgers and Giants. This will be the Padres first NL West showdown of the season. The Giants will be tough. Pivetta vs Webb will be a marquee matchup.
The Padres have the pitching to win this series. Now, they need to get their offense going. They had scored only 5 runs in their last 5 games. Arraez should be back for the series. We can hope that Merrill will be back, too. Iglesias's defense show's how much Cronenworth's defense is missed and how valuable he is to the team. Also, maybe it is time to bring Campy back.

Thank heavens! Need his left handedness and contact rate. Definitely make a difference behind FTJ.
Wouldn't mind seeing Sheets further down the lineup as well, take some pressure off him.

I'd like to see Tatis behind Arraez until Merrill is back.
We need someone who is hitting to have people on base.
I realize this doesn't guarantee anything....but we need runs.....period.
Two things we do know.....Arraez can get on base and Tatis can drive him in.
But that's about all we know with this team right now.

Rumor per Jeff Sanders ... Gurriel's locker has been cleared out.
Arraez AND Heyward are both back and in the line-up.

Gurriel's hard hit % was only 17.9%; clearly he had no life left in his swing and it was time for him to go.

Gurriel's departure will open one slot on the 40 man. Maybe saved for Hoeing coming off the 60 day IL in about a month OR keep open for a non-roster player add if needed.
Also, might allow for a FA/trade by Preller to bolster the bench / line-up.

McCoy to the IL ... broken finger (pinky) from a couple of days ago.
