The Padres are in 2nd place 1.5 games ahead of the Dbacks, but are 9 games behind the Dodgers. On paper the Padres should sweep these guys. In reality is another story.  This is the last series of the road trip before coming home to playing the Braves and Dodgers.

It looks like Gore has a tendency to give up a lot  of walks. Former Padre Diaz is hitting a .300 avg. How come he did not do that well when he was a Padre. The Padres will also be facing former Padre catcher Kyle Higashioka.

Lately, Buehler has been the ace and best pitcher on the team. He has not allowed a HR in his last 5 starts, 2.14 ERA in his last 4 starts and a 1.72 ERA in 3 starts in June. He has gotten better. He cannot be traded.

Taylor should stay in the 2nd slot after Tatis. Since joining the team, he has become an offensive force with a .343 avg and .867 OPS in 10 games. Just what the Padres needed. Wagner has a .278 AVG. Tatis has improved and has a .284 avg. Before he was injured Campy had a .288 avg, .958 OPS and 3 HR. I can't believe that I wanted him traded last year after he went 0-21 last season. What a turn around. Now, I can't wait until he returns.

NL West Matchups
Dodgers(48-27) host Orioles(35-41)
Diamondbacks(38-36) host Twins(36-40)
Giants(31-43) at Marlins(37-38)

Apparently to give him a strategic rest from a recent heavy workload. Keeps Hart up for now. However, does make him miss TEX, ATL, and some of LAD ... some key opponents.

Ty!!! First career Grand Slam.

Ty!!! First career Grand Slam.

Then all down hill from there.

France booting that easy ground ball caused the error that may have made the difference.

If he fields it cleanly he gets it to Randy in plenty of time to catch the throw and then find the bag.

UNBElIEVABLE!

Just when the offense finally comes up big to take a huge lead, Vasquez gives all back plus more to fall behind. He is no good.

Manny Machado the inning killer.

Most games would be won with 7 runs scores. Vasquez was terrible. Would the Tigers take him for Skubal as part of a deal. Matsui and Peralta are the only two pitchers that did not give up a run.

Taylor works well batting second. Wagner(.333 avg) should be moved to the 3rd spot and Merrill to the bottom of the order and France to the 4th. He was awesome tonight going 3 for 5, 2 HR including a grand slam and 5 RBI.

Hopefully, the Padres can win tomorrow with Buehler on the mound.

GO PADRES!

Rangers SP Eovaldi has been scratched to start on Saturday. LHP Gore has been moved up to today to start
