Padres lost. Offense could not get it going. They split the series. Let's hope the Dbacks and Dodgers lose,
Let's hope they play the Rays better.

I am not even upset about today, with Gray going I knew that the best chance to win the series was getting the first 3 Ws, however, I am upset about yesterday, they had a bunch of chances and didn't capitalize on.

What? Wade is a lot faster than Arraez. Wade is in the 88th percentile for sprint speed. Arraez is in the 28th. I could see an argument for leaving Arraez in because you want to keep his bat in the lineup if you end up in extras. If we're talking about speed on the bases it isn't close.

The heat and humidity looked brutal out there. Combine that with the fact that this was game 14 in the 18 consecutive game stretch and it's not surprising they looked a little sluggish. I think they could all use some rest.

Dbacks lost. Padres remain lose no ground 1 game back of the snakes. Let's hope the Dodgers lose tonight.

Glass half full or half empty ... all four starters struggled but all four starters battled and really limited STL scoring. Think that off day on Tuesday will help along with returning to PETCO.
Five off days in SEP (and two extra players) should help the entire team recoup a bit from two long consecutive game runs with only one off day in-between.
Kim's IL maybe have given him the rest to carry him for the rest of the season ... and the long IL for Tatis, Musgrove, and Darvish should have them fit to play everyday / start. With the off days might the Padres give some rest to King, Cease, and Perez (maybe skip a start or just drop them back a day or two?)
Agree that Profar needs a break as do some others.

On the topic of not getting it done, does anyone get the feeling that Bogaerts is Hosmer 2.0?
Does anyone see anything in his game that makes you think he'll return to Boston Bogaerts?
The Hosmer signing was huge for us. Put us on the map as an FA destination( see Machado). The Bogaerts signing was desperate at best( already turned down by far superior players Turner and Judge- just imagine how good this team would be with either of those guys????) and horrible at it's worse.
I know I harp on about this guy, but outside of a few short streaks, he's been a replacement level player. Do we hope he motivates and finds a way to be better? Or do we pray AJ can swindle some other team into taking him, without having to add De Vries or Salas?

May not be living up to his contract … but not going anywhere … might even be the starting SS in 2025 if they don’t re-sign Kim. Either way I still would like to see him have a full healthy season at 2B to see what he can produce (probably not BOST level but still a plus).
