Like my mom use to say "I don't care was everybody is doing, I care about what you are doing", now, to be fair, we knew the window of opportunity was from 2022-2024, no way they could've extended that further with the soul less type of players they have, don't like to admit It, we can hate on the smurfs all we want (because of big signings, fan base, etc), but, you know what, I do admire that It doesn't matter If it's April or October, they play every night as If, they MUST win that game, the Padres (starting with the leader) play as If the only games that matter are played in September, as If they are entitled to be part of the playoffs, talent alone took them there a couple of times, but I am not so sure they are aware that they have to earn it, maybe that Is why Profar was so valuable, steroids or not, he brought It, every single night.

Padres have lost 8 of their last 9 ... offense has gotten worse somehow ... if they lose today to PHIL a good chance the drop out of the playoff slot.

Next couple of weeks a race between seeing if the offense comes alive, the pitching holding up, and sliding down the standings all setting the tone on Preller's moves (yes, seller in July is a real option considering limited trade chips to bring in impact players).

Still down to the core bats (all of them) coming alive ... tinkering on the fringe at this point does little.

2027 brings new owners but also the unknown of the new CBA rules preceded by the unknowns of a potential lockout costing a portion of the season coupled with about half the current 26 man roster could be FA or opt outs and little in system to create replacements ... the organization will have to make a tough call as to when to cut bait (if they need to) and become sellers of not just rentals (e.g. Adam, Morejon would have markets) but also impact players such as Miller who might not be needed in a rebuild yet still would garner a quality return given his low cost / long control.

June will be critical to the future of this team.

Here is another way of looking at it. 6 of the 9 losses came against the Phillies, who the Padres have a hard time with just about every season.

Now the Padres have put them behind in the regular season. Let's hope the Padres offense start clicking.

Throw was bad ... low and to the home side of 1B by a good margin and France would have had to rotate opposite from the natural move to make a tag on the runner. This one is on the pitcher.
