San Diego Padres at New York Yankees: May 5-7

PreviousPage 2 of 5Next

The rotten thing is that it's supposed to be wet weather in the Bronx for the next three days...80% chance of rain today with a 60% in an hour

Tomorrow is a 90% chance of rain and 60% on Wednesday...it's going to be cold and sloppy boys but both teams have to deal with it. The umpires don't want to be there...the strike zone is rather large tonight.

I always always always hated playing in rain games…you never get a rhythm going , sloppy field and generally a miserable game to play

Pitchers start, stop and start again and hitting is always a battle…I know they want to get games in but it’s a dangerous situation for both teams

Wow!

What a crazy game!

Padres beat the Yankees and extend their winning streak to 6. WOW!

Despite the rain and giving up a 2-run shot on one bad pitch, Pivetta was outstanding. The BP was solid and Suarez earns his 14th save.

Machado and Bogaerts came through when the Padres really needed it.
The one negative thing I have to say is that Tatis needs to be patience. He did not look good at the plate.

Let's take game 2 tomorrow. Jackson Merrill in CF.

GO PADRES!

To be fair, Rodon made a couple of great pitches to Tatis with two strikes in two different ABs, in the other AB he was frustraded with the borderline call by whe ump, and had to swing at that change up below the zone, at the end go figure, because the ump threw him and Mike out, he had to call that pitch as a strike for Suárez, which worked to our advantage.

I think Campy should be the one that goes down when Merrill is activated.

It was a tough night, and a tough pitcher. However, I agree. He once again seems overmatched by ML pitching.

Great comeback tonight!

I have to admit that once the Padres got behind in the rain in New York with its two rain delays, there was no way we'd come back to win this one.   I left the broadcast and came back with the Padres in the lead 4 - 3 and Suarez closing it out.  It was amazing and just shows the resilience of this team.  Sorry I didn't keep the faith  but pulling for the series irrespective of the weather the next 2 days!  GO PADRES!

It was funny because I told my wife in the 8th inning that the Padres had the Yankees right where they wanted them…ahead and over confident at 3-0…and inning over and the Padres are up 4-3…she just looked at me and said….how do you do that?

Great win for our boys …let’s get game two

Go Pads !!!

Wasn’t just about to Tatis at bat though. Yankees were getting the low strike called all night. Padres weren’t getting the same call.

Nick got squeezed early and Campy got called out on the exact same low pitch he wasn’t getting  at the bottom of the zone in his first AB.

Got worse from there

Not sure what Tatis said, but it must’ve been a doozy.
