The Padres head north by bus to Anaheim with a homestand sweep and 8-game winning streak to battle the Angels to begin their road trip. The last time the Padres won a series against the Angels in Anaheim was in 2015 and the last time they swept the Angels in Anaheim was in 1999.

After the Angels, the Padres head east to Colorado's Coors Field to battle the Rockies and then head south the Mexico City to play the DBacks for two games.

The Padres rotation takes a blow as Pivetta is placed on the IL with a flexor strain in his right elbow. According to Stammen, "he will be out for weeks and maybe months". I hope it will not be long.

The Angels will be tough especially with Jose Soriano, one of MLB's best pitchers on the mound, to open the series and a hot Trout. Waldron will be called up in Pivetta's place to open this series on Friday. Let's hope he pitches well.

The Padres offense has been playing well. Campy and France's bat finally woke up. Andujar, Bogaerts and Tatis have all gotten hot as well.

Looks like a tough matchup tonight. That hasn't been a problem for the boys lately though.

Jose Soriano is the real deal with many baseball pundits predicting him to have a breakout year before the season started.  Hopefully, it may be the Angels and not the Padres that have travel fatigue for the first game and we can continue our streak.  Want to see a solid game by Waldron and if he can get us through at least 5 it's going to mean a lot for the bullpen because we have Marquez going tomorrow and need some arms to support his usually short outing.

When do you reckon the last time the Angels, or any team for that matter, has faced a real knuckle baller?

I'm thinking we've got the advantage in Anaheim tonight 💪🏽

Very sad news.

RIP Garret

Alek Jacob optioned. Waldron activated.

Going as I expected so far

Can't win'em all. Soriano is a tough pitcher. The Padres can start another winning streak tomorrow on Saturday. That being said Waldron did not do well.

GO PADRES!

The Padres take game 2.

Marquez was outstanding in the pitcher's duel and Miller closes the door. Merrill's defense is outstanding and awesome.

Tomorrow afternoon is the rubber game. King is on the mound.

GO PADRES!

I a results business ... 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball leading to a win is outstanding. Was however, worried throughout that Marquez was yielding a lot of very hard hit balls ... fortunately caught (thank you good defense).

Looks like both Marquez and Buehler have shown enough in their last starts to be given a long leash.

Was disappointed in Waldron's Friday start ...given the minor league reports (and results) ... his volume was supposed to be up and his command was supposed to be vastly improved. Did not see that and his knuckleball just floated up without much break. He moves to the most vulnerable when Canning is activated ... but still probably gets 2-3 more starts.
