Ray was a disappointment. But, the offense was more of a disappointment. Bogaerts can't hit.
The Dbacks gave the Dodgers their 7rh straight loss.
Let's hope the Padres win the next game.

To say I'm disappointed with our trade deadline deals to date would be an understatement!
So far, 0-2...BUT.... between Ray and Mize, we should get 20 starts total out of these 2, so 18 opportunities left to prove AJ a genius.

King was outstanding.
The Padres are now 1 game back the Dbacks and Phillies, who both lost.
Padres need to win the rubber match tomorrow.

The Padres and outfielder Austin Hays have reached an agreement on a major league contract, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Released by CWS ... injured most of the year (hamstring then calf) ... so Padres should only be paying league minimum for 2 months.
Has a chance to be an excellent pick-up probably replacing Bowen as RHH option in the OF (or DH). His history is of smashing LHP. If healthy though ... but a low cost high upside bet.
Just have to go back to 2025 when he was with CINN ... 416 PA ... 266/315/453 ... 105 wRC+ ... 1.2 WAR ... plus over .300 vs LHP.
Clearly an upgrade over Bowen offensively and in certain line-ups a better DH choice than Sheets who really struggles against LHP.
I have wanted the Padres to take a shot at him for a number of years ... hopefully I was right.

Offset move for Hays:
5:17PM: The Padres have officially announced the signing, and utilityman Gage Workman was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding move.
A bit surprised Workman over Bowen.

Here is some good news:
The Padres sent Joe Musgrove on a rehab assignment to the El Paso Chihuahuas. He could return August 21 when the Padres are at home.
